Paul, I have my eye on several of those Northwoods (whittler, English jack, swell center & Indian River). They look great in the pictures. How are they in the hand? F&F, heft, etc...

Jerry,

The F&F on both are excellent. The Canoe has good heft, and the Indian River Jack is nice and slim - I bought IR to start a little collection of Northwoods knives, but it is so nicely built and so pocket friendly, I am now considering picking one up to EDC. Both have nice W&T and nice snap both ways ... no nail breakers, but nice stout springs.

I am just beginning to learn about Northwoods, so I'm sure there is more to this story, (and if I have any of this wrong, please chime in and straighten me out!), but as I understand it, the current knives avaialble are either made by Queen, S&M, or GEC, dependant on what pattern/generation you get. The Canoes are still holdovers from Dave Shirley's days, and are mostly made by Queen and finished by Schatt & Morgan. The newer ones, (NW is now owned by Derrick Bohn of KSF - Whittler, Swell Center, English Jack, Double Ended Jack, Scagel Fruitport, Barehead Jack, etc), are being made by Queen, S&M or GEC, and then some are shipped off and convex ground by Mike Stewart at Bark River. Any of these scenarios equals a quality knife to me.

I am enjoying learning about and delving into something a little different ...

Thanks. I'm just waiting for that thing they call "spendable income" to accumulate sufficiently to cover my habit.

And a Harness Jack 5 from CollectorKnives.net. Beautiful construction and really like the old world punch!

This one finally came today - John Primble Belknap Hardware #4992 with a star (Boker made). Unfortunately both blades are crap, both been on a grinder and primary has a large chip out of it. On the plus side it has some wonderful jigged bone handles, which was the main reason I bought it. Came with two other crap knives. Be a great candidate for a re-blade.

This thing came today. I ordered it because it has an "Axis" lock.

Darn thing weighs very close to 7oz! Heavy! 5 inches closed, 9 1/8 open.

Not Sanrenmu sharp, but with a touch up does paper ok.

I got this beauty in last Friday from Glennbad. It's one of his custom Camillus electrician knives. He did a wonderful job and these Culpepper scales are brilliant. Thanks for the wonderful surprise, Glenn.

I am slowly trying to catalog all of the knives you fellows have given me but it is a slow process. I have to depend on others to do it when they have time, the weather is agreeable, etc. I promise in time I will get them all posted. Please don't be offended.
