Macro mode is most often indicated by the emblem of a tulip.

I remember when my grandmother would call me and ask me to come over to "fix the time on the clock on her VCR because it was flashing 12:00" - gosh I miss nana.

.......Charlie, it's got a flower on the dial(looks like a daisy to me), and that's where it says "closer than 28", but you sure can't get close enough to get a good shot of a tang stamp on a knife!!..................

If computer software came with the camera or if you can simply connect it to an USB port and upload to your "pictures" files, there is free photo editing software available, such as Photoscape, which I use. You can crop out just the tang in a regular photo, then enlarge it. I do it all the time. That's how I created all those Robeson tang stamp photos I have.

...wish I had your expertise, Charlie!!!....computers cost me my job back in the early '80's, turned me against them for life!!!....I'm going to dig out my old Minolta since my argus quit, and see what kind of luck I have with it. I know I have a close-up lens for it that will get down to about 12" away!!......

PhotoScape is very powerful for a free application. I use it all the time and love it.

Just had to share these beautiful carvings that Ivoryman has sent me over the years. I swear, that guy can carve this stuff in his sleep! (I went to a craft fair here in Hawaii recently and saw very similar fish hook patterns being sold for between $50 - $200 each...and they were made out of bone!)

I decided to make a clock for each of my grandchildren.I made them using the first letter of their name.I found with the "T" I had to leave some timber on the bottom to stop them falling over.
I will have to make a extra "A"as a new grandchild arrived yesterday.

The redbud trees are blooming better this spring than they have in a few years. Here's a couple of pics of some of the blooms on the tree in my yard.

Isn't wildflowers another word for weeds?
Nice picture Phil.

Jerry, according to many botanists/gardeners...the definition of a "weed" is simply any plant growing anywhere you don't want it to. So, according to that definition, any plant could be considered a weed depending on where it's growing and how it's affecting the ecosystem. I wouldn't necessarily call native wildflowers weeds because, personally, I feel that wherever they grow is appropriate and desirable...just as long as they're not an invasive species that overtakes and destroys native species and/or upsets the ecosystem (we have a big problem with invasive species of all kinds here in HI).
Beautiful flower photos, Phil. Spring is in the air.
