Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
No clue John. Never heard of the breed. Good loking pup.
Congrats Mark and Unk! Love this thread. Love seeing all the new additions and existing ones in our lives.
Meet Bear. His name was Bruno but transition not likely difficul to Bear. 120 pound 1 year old from the shelter. St. Bernard/ Pyrenees mix
I sealed the deal today but can't take him home till he us nuetered. Sucks but a good thing/idea I think.
He took a crap the size of his head.
Like a freaking cow pie. Spent some time with him. Female Deputy was up there with gal from Animal Control. We are co-workers. Both great people. He seems to like women more. He is a big sweetheart.
People whom owned him are idiots. Their method of discipline on the surrender paperwork? yup dogs always respond well to yelling and scolding.
i belong to him,.not the other way around. I am Alpha and they know it but I let them be dogs. I trust them, they trust me. Riened in when needed.
That dog that size does whatever he wants. Hopefully, I convince him my wishes are in my/his best interest. He is a sweet soul. We will work it out.
More to come after he gets snipped.

Congratulations, Jerry. Now this is a dog that will make an impression, no doubt a good one with your guidance. What a great companion to snuggle with on a cold night. Better than a bear rug.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Thanks Garry.
People prefer/ care for different breeds. I know you love Shepards and they are awesome dogs.
Wasn't even planning on another dog. He kinda called my name.
The ladies (I am stretching thar out of respect) were gleeful, happy, smiling when surrendering their dogs. This one and another, I was there. Who does that?
I would eat dirt before giving up one of mine. And sure as heck would not be jovial and happy about it.
EDIT: There were like 30 dogs in the pound. ONLY one that did not bark. That was my big boy. All others went wild. A bunch of COVID surrenders and mainly surrendered where those dogs trusted that person to give them a good life. People need to see beyond the cute puppy longterm.
Not much makes my blood boil, but this does.
In this case, Bear and I blessed he was given up.
Still pisses me off.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
I could not agree with you more, Jerry. Tho shepherds are a favorite, I like most any breed or mix with which I can connect. As you put it, if it "speaks to me."
Sometimes I think it is the owners who should be licensed not the dogs.

Rueger went for a ride yesterday in my buddy's Can Am. I think he had a pretty good time.

Rueger and Ahter are getting to know each other better every day. They remind me of Spike and Chester, the two dogs in the Looney Tunes cartoon.
In the last picture, he was sniffing the dirt and got a leaf stuck on his nose.

David, I overlooked Mr. Griffin yesterday. He looks like a great ball of fun who wants to be taken seriously.
T-Dog, I wrote a fairly lengthy entry about your fine looking Pointer. It has disappeared somehow. I will try and make a repeat effort later today.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Some recent pictures of our new golden retriever Moki. He is photogenic and such a sweet disposition. My older dogs haven’t accepted him yet. He has been growled at a lot and snapped at by my other golden retriever Scout. Bristol will run with him and roll him and likes to play but inside she growls at him every time he comes near her. He is peeing all the time, which we read can take 4 to 6 months for them to get control of their bladders. We take him outside a lot but he still goes on the floor. We rush him out as soon as he wakes up to get him out for the big pees but he stills stops and squats to pee about every 20 minutes. Sure hope this phase passes quickly.
The first few days were a challenge since my wife and I both have covid again. But it’s getting better.
Those dogs above are beautiful. Rueger is especially beautiful.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Great pics Mike. Congrats again on the new beautiful addition to the pack.
David, Griffin looks like a sweet , inquisitive little guy.
Top Dog, I assume German Short-haired? Good looking dog. Can't post our friends/ companions enough in my opinion.
If I missed a criiter, not on purpose. Love all animals.
Moki is a great looking and beautiful pup SSS. Congratulations on your new pack addition.
Brought home Bear Monday in recovery from the snip. Posted him last page or so. Going on 3 lampshade. He knew zero commands. He can sit and lay in just couple hours. Controlled chaos at first but he is a good boy for sure. Work to bring a neglected 100 or so pound 1 year old pup in is not easy but we are working it out.
Elsa is such a forgiving and low maintenance dog. Super sweet. Not phased to much from new boy as he is healing so intro is very gradual but so far so good. Only one I had so she deserved so extra additional attention
today.
DOG and DESERT!

Yes Sam. I totally agree.
Anyone ever heard the expression...
Why, oh why the fly, know not I?
Yup, all creatures are there. To each his own and I respect that.
That said, I have two words to the statement I hear from people who argue since dogs, cats, whatever critter don't have souls, they don't go to heaven.
NOAH'S ARK
As Will Roger's once said...
"If dogs don't got to heaven, I want to go where they go".
I think my previous pups are in Heaven along with all my loved ones. Hope God has a couple shotguns I can borrow to do some birding hunting with Dad. On the fence if they allow me to bring my shotgun for hunting purposes only, of course. And some fishing gear would be nice.
Amen.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
We lost our furry friend last weekend after 15 years.
As for a soul, all you have to do is look into their eyes and you'll know, and this little guy took a part of ours with him so he's not short.
Its my first time in 25 years without a dog now and there's a gap, but all these happy faces still bring a smile and he was one happy pup.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Very sorry for your loss SwedgeHead. Judging from his many smiles you made him very happy.
I believe there are very sound theological reasons for expecting to meet our pets in the next life. I won't make the case here; no need for those who love their pets. We humans can't imagine how great will be our happiness in heaven. "The eye has not seen, nor the ear heard" what God has prepared for us.
