Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

I definitely like the switchers
It is an EMD SW8. I was reading up on them, 310 produced in the early 1950's. I wonder how many are still out there......

There would not be many. At a guess 30 or less. Nearly all the EMD's copied from the American design and made on licence here in the early 50's have been scrapped. There are still a few in service but not many. Some have been restored by Historical Railway organizations but most were scrapped, and it was so sad to see them being destroyed.

That's usually where I see them.....on display somewhere.
Thanks for looking!

Cool pictures! There's a new CN America 250 engine out there too. 🇺🇸

I just experienced a "right place, right time" moment with this UP coal train.

Good video, John, I like that screamin eagle scheme better than the CPKC 250th.

Gorgeous day for railfanning. 😎👍

I took these screenshots from VirtualRailfan on YouTube, from around 1:10 this afternoon in Cumberland. My Maintenance of Way brother said the chaser vehicle is a tie handler, WMSR work consist with a Circus livery lead. The first picture is it crossing the Potomac River and Will's Creek from Ridgley, WV to the old Western Maryland Railway station.

Thanks for the heads-up, I got the email around 7:07.

The East leg starts on my birthday! Altoona is promising, might be less crowded than Philly on the 4th. 🎉

Thanks, John, I will be catching it somewhere this summer. There are a few good spots for viewing within 30 to 90 minutes of my house. This will be my 3rd time in the last 5 years.

Hopefully I at least see it go by this time. Not sure where the stop will be. If it is in the city I definitely won’t see it if it’s in the burbs I might fight the crowd. The better half will probably take a pass.

I think the sister engine is on static display in Scranton, PA. I won't rule that out either, depending on the date. Altoona isn't too far from Cumberland, might be able to get my brother rallied.

Makes me sad. These are the things my Dad loved and would always make plans for. He would've loved the white U. P. Presidential 250 train too!

MG,
Are you going to make plans to try and see the Big Boy pass not sure if the other loco is going to be part of the propulsion set. You should try my dad was not the rail fan that was me.
This knife thing was my dad and I am liquidating for the sibs and I. He collected a lot of cool knives lots of Remingtons and lots of other stuff. He will be gone 18 years this week. Still not sure if I’m going to make the badger show this week, that’s where he was headed when his girlfriend found him. Car was already loaded.

No, LK, I won't be. I might've if circumstances for me was different and I still lived in KC. I DO plan on posting a pic of my Dad on here with one of those special trains events and the U.P. yards that used to be in Kansas City, Kansas, but it's packed away.
