I know I have to take the outer hulls off, but not sure what the proper protocol is from there. I have read on line to store them in a bag in your basement until you're ready to open them. I have also heard crack them open right away and freeze them. I do understand they are very difficult to get out of the shell.
Anybody have experience with these?
Glenn
flake the hulls off, crack the shells with a hammer on a hard surface or a high quality nutcracker, I have one of these
http://www.redhillgeneralstore.com/hous ... racker.htm. I gather walnuts and hickory nuts every year. I missed the hickory nuts this year due to my health but still have a pile of walnuts I can hull out if I get the time.
use a nut pick to extract the meats after you crack them

Very inventive.
Looks like an adequate replacement for The Sta-Puffed Marshmallow Man in the next GhostBusters movie.

Wifey makes me drag out the Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving. I don't no why but I'm really not feeling the Christmas Spirit this year!

Hopefully it will come later on!

Mitch, no wonder you don't feel Christmassy; you've got Mrs. Doubtfire for the Angle!
