Stunning knife Q! The stag, the bullet shield, the wharnnie blade, Italian built, stunning! Congrats!QTCut5 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 4:20 am I wasn't planning on buying any more knives this month (go ahead and laugh...you've all thought the same thing at one time or another...and most likely multiple times![]()
), but I ordered this Stag Wharncliffe Swayback Jack from AG Russell over two months ago (June 5) and it finally arrived today. Perfect timing, too, since The Monkey was starting to get the DTs from knife withdrawal
.
Unlike many later model AGR knives which are made in China (still very high quality knives, BTW), this one was made in Maniago, Italy.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Received these two in the mail today. A couple more to add to my Camillus 72 Clone Family. I will post more about them in the Camillus 72 Clones thread.
First a McGrew Arkansas Hillbilly Classic Carpenters Whittler made by Camillus, with the Underlined McGrew Arkansas USA tang stamp. It has Delrin Handles with the undersocored "M" federal style shield. All blades have great snap, still have the original luster, no wobble, but do have some age spots and some scratches. The master clip blade still has the "Hillbilly Classic" blade etch, but it is light. I also picked up a Craftsman 9494 which was listed in the Sears Catalogs as a 3 Blade Whittler. This one has the oval Craftsman Shield with the crown stamped surround. I believe these were made by Ulster. The blades are tight with good snap, but does feel gritty and needs cleaning inside. So will do the usual warm oil bath spa treatment and flush. These are the pics shortly after I opened it today.

For once in a ..... oh heck a loooong time the FedEx guy was on time and delivered my package from SMKW without it looking like it had been run over.
I have a bunch of the Rough Ryder Classic Carbon Series so I thought I would get the Classic Carbon II Series, sorry not as impressed with the looks. They're good knives, but the black micarta handles shall we say, just don't float my boat. They have both smooth and rough spots and look like they are unfinished. Maybe it's just a ME thing.
Now the Rough Ryder Stag Bone Whittler is a thing of beauty. I'll be carrying that one.
The beautiful CASE Coke Bottle knife I got from our friend at Sander's Knives and will one day be featured on my website and in my new knife exhibition after my new house is built.

David, that Case is a real looker, and the tin makes it just that much cooler.
I got these two in the mail today. The 833UH was purchased from Coinfolio, and he threw the SP2 in as a bonus. Quite happy with both of them. More photos will be posted in the Schrade area. Thanks, Coinfolio!

Great finds everyone!
Especially like those Queens!
Congrats!
Have some catching up to do. Here, my last 4 pick up's. They all have good snap & the Case even has nice solid half stops. Which I really like!
1) A "Solingen" (date
)
2) Victorinox Elinox advertising pen knife (60's)
3) Case 6269 (
1970 I think it was.)
4) Boker USA (1961 maybe)
I'll put the Victorinox Elinox in my show case & the other three get pocket time this week.
Thanks for looking friends!

Tom, I really like your 1970 Case 6269! It appears to be bone handled, didn't get to see the blades fully opened.
Great knife as well as the other 3.

Told The Monkey "No More Knives This Month" which, if you know anything about monkey mentality, means he immediately began doing his monkey knife rain dance...and, apparently, when it rains, it pours. Here are just a few of the knives that he somehow managed to conjure up this week in spite of my decree (and in total disregard for my empty wallet
)

I’ve wanted to try a japanese higo no kami for a while and finally bought one. It was only $13 and change. Initial impressions are good but I knew what to expect; a bit rough around the edges and very simple but solidly made with good steel. I think it will serve me well.

Floyd, The Monkey has no "taste," just an insatiable appetite. And since Case 07W Wharncliffe Mini Trappers are fewer and further between (at least the ones I don't already have), The Monkey must "feed" on something.
