Now see, I would have put both knives in the Camillus 72 thread because the LR6 has a Camillus tang stamp. Life sure gets tedious.

Great toothpick Willy. ::tu:: Beautiful filework, and what are those covers, cow horn? A toothpick with a fish scaler was the very first knife I ever handled or owned. It wasn't until years after I'd got the knife that someone showed me exactly what the scaler does, prior to that I had no idea what it was for. I've learned a thing or two since then though! Congrats on having this one back where it belongs, ::handshake:: with you! 8)

A couple of little-uns came in today. On the left is a Kershaw Chive. I had one of those, or a very similar Kershaw, that went MIA aboard USS Peleliu in about 2004. At the right is an Opinel N03. The are sitting on my AAPK T-shirt, which I will wear with pride! Not shown: a Tri-Hone system.

I got these 2 very cool autos in today's mail guys! I need to post a disclaimer here before I begin, and it's sure to ruffle some feathers on the purists who read this, but unfortunately my budget doesn't afford me the opportunity to buy originals, so I'm relegated to buying these models. Both of these knives are blatant counterfeits of the original knives. If they only could have stopped short of including the etches and simply left the knives unmarked, they would only be the more acceptable clones or copies, but they didn't. I did some research and found that Benchmade hasn't built or sold a knife from China since their "Red Line" series was discontinued in 2010, and Pro-Tech has NEVER built or sold a knife from China, and since these 2 were purchased only a few weeks ago I have to assume they are counterfeits, right down to the logos. My apologies if this is upsetting to anyone, but unfortunately this is my situation. The first knife is an 8" Pro-Tech "Don" model, not to be mistaken for the "Large Don" model which is 2 1/4" longer oal, and was the knife I THOUGHT I'd be receiving, since that's what the description read. It's built EXACTLY like the original, and if it weren't for the much lower price you'd think you had the real-deal. This knife is nearly a spitting image of the Ganzo 707 auto, and seeing as I have one of those I wanted the bigger one. Still has it's place in my collection though. The second knife is an 8" Benchmade "Spike", and it's a knife I've wanted for years ever since I first saw one. I've never actually held an original model, but from everything I've seen and read about them, this knife is identical, right down to the etch. Both knives are coil-spring fired, and lock-up tight. In the pictures on the site the etches weren't showing, but even if they were I still would have made the purchase, because the counterfeiting really doesn't bother me like it does others, but I certainly would have preferred that these were copies, so I wouldn't have had to upset anyone. Thanks for listening! 8)

Nice ones! I have a couple of knockoffs, and I have kept them as a demonstration of what is a counterfeit knife. I once thought I got burnt on a used Emerson in poor shape, but it ended up being real.

Bought a couple things from Olde Cutler here recently, and they arrived today.

2015 Buck 301 in user condition. I wanted an affordable, modern Stockman I could use hard. I currently have a well-used Case 3318 CV serving in that role, but I wanted a bit bigger Stockman. Rough Riders are out, and besides, I already own a RR Jumbo Stockman I've never really actually liked. This is not gonna be a dress knife, this is not gonna be a shelf queen. This is gonna be the knife that gets the work done. Aside from pretty rough examples, I'm retiring a lot of my Camillus, Schrade, and Queen knives.
KIMG4077.jpg

Rigid RG-51. I call this knife the unholy mashup of a tactical folder, a Stockman, and a TL-29. These are pretty uncommon knives, and while I missed an opportunity a couple years back to pick up a new-old-stock example, this one I surely did not pass up on.
KIMG4080.jpg
The pocket clip actually isn't. It's a slipjoint multifunction blade with a plastic cover (serving as the pocket clip) that slips off, revealing three wrenches, two wire stripping notches, a ruler, a straightedge, and a large slotted screwdriver.
KIMG4082.jpg

He also sent me this really nice turned walnut pen he made. I prefer a bigger pen for extended writing and am already putting it to good use. It uses a common Bic Stic for ink, and those are practically everywhere these days.

Thanks, Smitty. The Chive is a great knife. I can deploy the blade with the thumb stud (quite unlike my HK tanto), the action is very smooth, and the lock is most welcome. Best if all, it was on sale!

Morning folks,
Dan in Mi. Those Chives are great Carry ,and seem to hold a edge ok. Keep one in my pickup.
Marco, not sure what to say about the knock offs , not going to say I like them ,when I really can’t buy one myself. It’s cool that you explained your perspective, and you can’t please everyone ,so please yourself. And the price diff does make it tempting ! Enjoy your knives ,take care up there my friend.
Cody, that RG51 is a great workhorse, we kept a couple around the shop and in our Service trucks. They take a beating and keep on cutting.
Thanks for posting your purchases everyone! Stay safe out there ::tu::
