Re: Vintage Whittler Knives
What a great show of knives, everyone.
It is a real pleasure to see all of these.
Here' s a little whittler with no stamps whatsoever. A great, solid knife. 3 1/4".

Re: Vintage Whittler Knives
Here is a knife stamped Tidioute PA, and poorly stamped in my opinion, but I have seen few Tidioute stamps.
This is one of the things in knife collecting/accumulating that frustrates me. I don't trust this knife.
It's just too shiny and new looking and I don't trust the stamp at all.
But what a knife. It's very well made and has strong springs and
the blades have smooth action and no wobble at all. It's built like a tank. 3 3/4".
It's roundish with big bolsters and a nice swell center. Nice smooth bone covers which add a lot of weight because of their roundness.
Actually the smooth bone is another reason I don't trust this knife. Who would make a knife this nice and then make a fraud out of it?
Any way, (I hope I don't get billed for a therapy session) I have set this knife aside but I believe I will sharpen it and carry it now.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Vintage Whittler Knives
Man, you guys are posting some beauties, great whittlers!
A couple I have, the Challenge has been shown but I'm not sure about the Catt, the Catt is not a split spring and is an unusual gunstock whittler, apparently not very common.

Lloyd, You've done it again, waking up a wonderful old thread. Greg, Lee, Lloyd, Larry, Joe & John a fine show of whittlers. Keith the large Remington stag is one of the holly grail of whittlers. A real beauty.
