I was just looking at one of mine, and it too, has a nice sharp and clean serif's, looks cold stamped though, but that first one I posted with the cut handles, it looks like it was hot stamped, for the serif is much deeper and not crisp serif's ~

Here's some classic examples of cold stamped knives, posted by fellow AAPK members. I don't think yours is cold stamped, just worn from opening and closing. Notice how the metal bulges near the letters, because the metal had to go somewhere.

Would not of thought those to be cold stamped, especially the Platts and Union and their stamp being so deep, would have thought otherwise "anyways" good to learn something ~ also, can you tell me how old my knife is, and anything else you may be able to share about it ~ you need more photo's let me know ~ thanks'

Is it a 5" frame or 4 1/2"? Thanks.

*Edit- according to Dunathan's, the frame length doesn't matter. He writes the 5 pin scales were made after 1935 - 1941.

Mine is the 4" 1/2 inches measuring from the top of guard in open-position to the bottom of its bottom bolster and measures 9" 1/4 from bottom bolster to the tip of the blade ~ they must have been including the guard in reference to being part of the frame measurements, otherwise mine is only 4" 1/4-inch frame actually ~ between top bolster and bottom bolster ~ but is definitely not a 5" frame ~ 35' through 40" ~ Thanks'. somewhere between 88 and 93 years old ~ another 7 to 12 years and it's an Antique ~

Since you're a paid member, I think you can post them here as opposed to opening a store. But maybe a seller or mod can chime in.
