Re: May 2023 Forum Member Knife Giveaway
Whether you were aware your knife was made in China or not, Gordy, is of little consequence nor is how much it cost, the fact that you are trying to participate and fit in somewhere you're comfortable is what matters. This entire situation could have easily gone the other way, with your being new and just beginning to learn you could have just as easily donated a $200. knife not knowing what it cost or where it was made, and then the comments would be "Oh my, what a generous donation", and this whole topic would never have existed. Unfortunately, because of one comment that very likely was given little or no pre-thought we're dealing with this issue. As it's been said in the comments, incidents like this are rare on this forum, and if you have doubts about that try visiting some of the other knife sites and read about how they absolutely abuse each others feelings and comments, and if you start with JerzeeDevils you won't likely need to check any further, you'll feel blessed belonging to AAPK.gordonjohn wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 11:25 pm I want to thank everybody her for there kind words, I did not mean to donate a knife because I wanted to be cheap I am a newbie a this knife stuff and I did not realize that it was made in China.
Actually, I just went to check my spelling for J/D, and was directed to another knife site where they were discussing it being closed down, likely due to the death of the owner but the son might take over, so try somewhere else.
I've said my 2 cents and am now detaching myself from all this nonsense.

Re: May 2023 Forum Member Knife Giveaway
I appreciate your donation, Gordon.
I've donated modded knives before, and worried that some may not think they are worth a whole lot not being factory knives. But what I find is that no matter what you have or show, there will be people that like it, and people that don't. That is the beauty and joy of the knife hobby. If everyone collected exactly the same knives, that would be boring.
There are knives posted on AAPK that I don't care for. Maybe because it's a pattern I don't like, or the country of manufacture I'm not a fan of. That doesn't matter, because other people like them and enjoy them.
Don't take what people say here too personally. There are many members here, and our political leanings and prior life experiences heavily influence our personalities, and therefore the things we are passionate about as well. In the past, I have let my own personal opinions get in the way of good knife friendships. I try to keep that stuff to myself now, and just enjoy the knives and people as they are.

I'd be stoked if I won that knife and I truely appreciate your generousity!

If the tang stamp says USA it is an old Schrade. If it does not say USA, the chances are 99.99% that is made in China. Notice I said that is only on the Old Timers & Uncle Henrys. To the best of my knowledge, Taylor has not had any of the Old Timers or Uncle Henrys made in the USA.
The other way to tell is to know the old Schrade patterns. Check for the patterns numbers in the Research Section here at AAPK. I have posted lists of most of the common Schrade patterns of the last 30+ years.

You're a good man Scott. Don't let one "Oops" get you down. You know what they say. Shirt happens, sometimes in small piles, sometimes in great big smelly piles. Ya can't predict it's going to happen and you can't predict the consequences. Keep the faith.
Gordon, he's a good man, don't judge him too harshly. We all step on our crank now and then.

Scott - I’m genuinely thankful for your expression of regret and acceptance of responsibility and I personally consider them as a complete and sincere apology. I encourage you to enter this contest, win the knife and award it to one of the youth that you mentor who I’m sure could put it to good use during your outdoor missions

Re: May 2023 Forum Member Knife Giveaway
Good on you, Scott, it takes a big man to admit when he's wrong.

Upon re-reading the comments, I am thoroughly convinced your comment was made at the knife and not the donator, but unfortunately it could only be read one way and caused me to think it was directed at the seller.
Where you were shocked at the differences in knives I was shocked at your comment since it seemed waaay out of character for you, and your apology proves it was.
Let's all carry-on and play nice now!

Less than 3 hours remain until the entry list is closed and sealed. If you have a hankerin' to win this sweet old Schrade Uncle Henry LB7 and haven't entered yet, now would be the time to make that happen. You can't win if you don't play.

Meigscl's pick of 171 was 15 lower than the winning lottery number drawn last night of 186 making him the closest without going over......a PM has been sent with instructions to claim the prize!
Thank you to all that participated and to our donor for making it all happen. Hope to see you all (that are truly eligible to participate) again in next month's giveaway.

Looks like Dolly Parton isn't the only one setting World Records as Meigscl has already claimed the May 2023 Forum Member Knife Giveaway in record time. Please join me in congratulating Clint on his win and Gordon for being our benevolent donor - another knife giveaway success story is in the history books!
