GEC making Remington’s now?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

how would you rate the pull, are the blades nail breakers to open
Mine has the lighter bone like one of yours.
It's a beautiful knife. I heard someone say that SMKW now owns the Remington name, do you know if it's true?

Mine are perfect, about a strong 6, typical GEC quality, a very well made knife.

Not sure if SMKW owns the name or Blue Ridge Cutlery does.

I haven't figured out if I like the lighter or darker bone dye yet. Haven't opened mine yet either, it showed up today.

Mine is dyed pretty much like the ad knife, may show a little darker in my pictures. Definitely the fit and finish I would expect from GEC. Clean and squared (I think that's what BL calls it) where the blades meet the springs. Perfectly hafted, I really like the jigging too. Centering is spot on and I like the info sleeve that came with it.

SMKW secured the Remington license for the bullet knives.
GEC is making them and it appears the batch was a large one.

It seems like the order went to Blue Ridge Knives as a SFO and SMKW received the majority of the knives which makes sense if they own the license I guess. Other dealers will have some too.

As for the price, I guess when you end up running this through multiple channels (GEC to Blue Ridge to Retailers to the consumer) the price creeps up compared to normal.

Are you sure it’s not Blue Grass Cutlery?

They say, Blue Ridge SFO, Ken. That's the first thing I thought of too. Still available.

Yes, unless there is a interchangeable name. I have even emailed the distributor (Blue Ridge) and talked to them.

My understanding is that the intent is that this could be a multi year project with this being the “2021” edition.

If that happens, the project will likely flop.
I think they should potentially analyze the pricing vs production numbers of the 2021 run and adjust as needed for the 2022 run.

I received the 2021 knife in the mail yesterday. I think GEC did a nice job with it.

Thanks for the feedback - I should have looked at the SMKW verbiage. ::facepalm:: I’m used to seeing Blue Grass Cutlery in the intermediary role, but never have known of Blue Ridge doing it. Maybe just ignorance on my part.

Given their track record, I’ll be pleasantly surprised if SMKW continues to source these Remington reproductions from U.S.A. manufacturers. It will be great if they succeed with GEC as the supplier. ::tu::

Really pleased with the one I just received, and hope GEC stays as manufacturers of these Remington Bullet runs

Smkw needs to keep this out of China, but that ain’t likely as many have noted.

Seeing as though these are US made, made by GEC why are these not walking off the shelves? Is it the price or some other reason? If they eventually are going to go offshore you would think that people would snap them up as this could be the last of this model made in USA. ::hmm:: ::shrug::

Probably the same as Queen. There were like what, two (poor quality) Bear made Queens; followed by a slew of rebranded RRs?
