I gotta go along with Sunburst on the natural handles also. Bone, stag & the ebony was a BIG hit.
IMO, carbon steel was invented for just such a user knife. And I've had quite a few comments about the long pull, especially from the older cowboys (with crooked fingers).
The federal shield just naturally goes with this old pattern. But I think that others would fit just as well.
And thats my 2 cents!

Do you use RENAISSANCE on your knives??? They sure look nice in those pictures

I figure if it's good for all those museums then it is good enough for me...Thanks again for the kind words...

Listen to knowtracks Tank, he knows what he's talking about...I just ordered another HJ off the vintage knives site..One is definitely not enough..

Of course neither is two or three....

I love the jigging on this particular knife...I can't wait to hold it in my hand..I look forward to making this jewel a fine EDC with it's High Carbon blades...Yeah baby...

Thank you Perry for the great compliments, Charlie did a great job in reviving the Harness Jack knives and without his affliction or addiction

we would never of had the chance to hold these future heirlooms. And just to get it all out of my system Perry here are my last two HJ's...

Here's an older one that I picked up yesterday. A friend back east found it at a recent show in Severieville (sp?).
Ebony, 3 1/2" long, half stops, snappy (broke my nail!), light patina. Beautiful punch which I must research for the patent. This one is special!!

Gary took the words right out of my mouth. A knife blade shape is wonderful to look at but, the long pull on a blade looks more intentional than the smaller nail nick. The small nail nick looks more like an accidental bump from a grinder, to where the long pull looks more planned and precise. To me it makes the blade look better. That's just my opinion though.
