I’ll start with the one I pack the most, 6 dot wood handled. It was my first one and came to me with this awesome patina, these big ol thick blades sure do get sharp.

Colonel, I couldn't agree with you more! I guess the loom fixers liked these too. The greenbone XX on the right had badly shattered scales when I got it, so I outfitted it with new greenbone. I'm still not sure if I like the effect or not. It might be in line for a "do-over" one of these days. :D
Beautiful knives Herb! All three of them! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: ::nod::

Oh cool one Jerry, that's about the exact same pattern. I could actually find and afford one of those. ::hmm::
As soon as I have some money left over, I might get me one of those. ::hmm:: :D
Good luck finding one for sale. It's out of stock at all the dealers I checked and there are none on eBay.
Just looked on German eBay. Found some RR Coal Miners but they all have Hawkbill blades. :|

Funny you picked today to post. I’ve been waiting for this one and it arrived today. My favorite pattern.

These are most of my others.

The KA-BAR versions are great users, just a little slimmer than the Case versions. The KA-BARS don’t come up often, but usually sell cheap. The handle scales are a little boring though, also worth pointing out the blades are laid out differently on the KA-BAR

The Rough Riders are pretty nice too, I have the whole set except the one with the acorn shield, and the red one.

Those are really nice!

I hadn’t noticed it until your picture but right before I read it in your post I noticed the different blade position of the Kabar and the CASE. VERY INTERESTING!

I knew there had to be more loomfixer fans than just me and Chris around here! ::tu::

It’s been a real honor to lead you down the primrose path of loom fixer addiction.

But be real careful. It’s mighty hard to stop at one.

Very nice XX. I don’t have one that old......yet.

Here’s a 10 dot that came to me off the bay. It’s been well used and when I got it someone had removed the scales. So I sent it to Dale along with a hunk of hickory out of Pa’s old smokehouse (left over from the last time he cured hams) and this is the result.

My Grandfather was a loom fixer in the cotton mill.
He carried a Case loom fixer.
He would be hired by cotton mill to fix the looms and get them working correctly.
He said it would take about six months to a year to get them working.
Mother says they moved a lot when she was a kid. She's 93 and still going strong!
I love hearing her talk about when she was growing up.
Good history there, and your mother would have some fantastic stories. ::tu::

I actually was a loom fixer for a few years, thus my interest in the pattern.
I have no recent pictures available ... I need to remedy that for this thread.
My small collection includes a 74 and a 76, a pre-dot that elvis re handled for me,
and a Kabar that has 'Loomfixer' hot stamped into the scale.
And one of the RR half hawk
:)

On the one hand the KA-BARs seem awkward having nail nicks on both sides of the knife. The advantage I see is that as the master wears down, and you adjust the kick, the nail nick Doesn’t get hidden by the secondary blade.

Well it’s sad to say, but here’s my last one. It’s also the last one I bought before the prices went through the roof. It’s a Xx USA (no dots) red bone.

I need some more. I’m afraid these are going to get lonely.

Thanks Colonel, you’ve shown some lovely knives too. I especially like the last one it has that well loved look.

AFAIK on the RR Half Hawks there were 5 made. The three I showed, and these two. That I only have pictures of :( I hope they come out with some more.
