One more 23 that I just finished working on. Scales are smooth bone "Sunset" from Culpepper. Not sure if they are still on sale, but they were very reasonable a few weeks ago. They started out very dark (as usual) but the more I sanded the more I realized what the "sunset" name was about. I intentionally left them a little bit rough to fit the character of this knife. I also think the thicker slabs fit the true character of the knife and my big paws as well. Sorry, I just noticed from the pics that I forgot to wipe off the metal filings from my workbench! I’ve worked with Culpepper sunset smooth bone before and like the colors. And the thick slabs on this larger knife worked well!
