Remington knives with an etch

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Jim, your showing some amazing knives I've never seen. The long search continues.

I have 3 knives to share tonight

1. R4466
2. RS3333
3. R4515 I'm 99% sure it has been re etched. But I'm ok with that as it is such a rare knife and I've never seen a real "Great Western " etch before.

With all you experienced Remington collectors here together, would someone please explain the GREAT WESTERN etch for me. I have seen it a time or two and have wondered the significance.

Thanks and nice knives,
Ray

Nice and then some :) ::tu:: ::tu:: Thank for you for sharing. Your R1303 has best etch I have seen on a R1303. It seems like very few of the R1303's have survived with any etch at all.
