VOOS KNIVES

I am sorry to hear that the gentleman who I sent the message to passed away. I was wanting to know about manufacturing dates on his Voos knife as show below. It is identical to my Voos.

I will re-ask the question of anyone that may know and here is my initial question: "My name is Dan Wyatt and I am 76 and a former shop teacher who likes to collect, restore, and use vintage knives. I try to focus my collection to vintage knives made in the late 1800s and up to WWII, I have a small collection of bare head knives that are made in the USA and just recently acquired a Voos bare head identical to yours. Is there anyway to tell when these were made? Thanks"

I have owned dozens of this exact pattern with the VOO Stamp, and I have seen many more in this exact pattern. I have heard anecdotally that it was produced in the WWII era as a private purchase knife for US Miliraty PX's. If true, that would explain the large quantities that are out there. In any event the age is definitely 1920's to 40's.

Thanks for the information. Perhaps someone will have input as to the anecdotal reference to them possibly being produced and offered through PXs during WWII. I really have interest in WWII items, old film footage, documentaries, etc. from that time probably because Pop was in the 101st Airborne / Battle of the Bulge / etc. and my brother and I only have a few items of Pop's WWII items.
