David, is your Barlow one from a series that Case had made using brass bolsters? OH

No, its a Old Cutler. Which was a Colonial brand if I remember correctly.

Well, it looks quite nice. I vaguely remember Case having Colonial or Imperial make them a cheaper line of brass bolstered pocketknives with a western theme flair (such as Durango or something like that). I may have simply dreamed it! OH

I’ve been packing this one lately. Pretty nice knife. Great lock up and has nice snap on closing. Someone got grinder happy and ground on it pretty good. Tang is gone. Looks like a Wilbert to me.

Unkei, I have one of the Black Oak Opinels myself. Did you engrave Bushido on the handle yourself? Another question. Do you have any of the Japanese style swords?

No, the engraving is deep and then evidently charred for contrast and was done by Opinel. The charge was minimal. As for swords...I have no Japanese swords. I do have one custom made sword cane of ebony with an old warthog tusk handle. Bought it at the Blade Show many years ago when it was held in Knoxville. The other neat thing about it is that it’s a full length sharpened blade instead of a triangular shape. I mainly collect custom made fixed blades.

Nope. Colonial made a premium "Durango" Barlow. I was never quite clear on Case's involvement but it's pretty much identical to the solid-bolstered Colonial and Old Cutler Barlows, down to the brass bolsters of the latter and the cursive "Barlow" stamp. Thought I had a pic but I can't find it.

Thanks Tsar, but I found it; I was right - there were several pocketknives (three pictured) marketed as Durango by Case, made for Case by Colonial - the line was short lived. One was exactly like the Colonial Barlow pictured above. Steve Pfeiffer referenced them here in a thread several years ago - you can search for it. OH

I'm not impressed with the brick, wood and cinderblock or the fingers and thumb with grass background but that is a sweet knife. It makes the picture. If the knife is the object then I think it a pretty decent pic.

Third day in a row for me with the Queen lock back in the pocket, paired it with a Robeson sleeveboard pen tue. and with a S&M Barlow wed.

Great pair, good looking patina coming on the Queen, but the Robeson bones and patina and sleeve board. Yup. That one makes me stop and stare. Keeper for sure. Thanks, I stole the Met Cut Co. lowest price I can recall spending on a knife and it's a great piece, love it, put an edge on the old steel and got rid of the two or three little crescents broken out. Sweet steel, bones, action. Thanks.

And Jdub, that Wilber is beautiful. Sweet bones and old grind look. Very attractive. So much going on in those bones. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh.

We used to raise Koi and this was our favorite. His name was Dapper Dan. When the Koi pond got too much for me to do the spring cleaning on in my old age we had to sell the Koi. Dapper Dan brought $6000 by himself!
What do you carve if not wood?
Here is a photo of my custom made Tauga or Palm nut push dagger with Damascus blade.
