Well, Gino, there sure are some interesting lighters out there and ebay is chock-full of them. If you're interested in some ZIPPO's I still have a trunk-full of them

the newest is probably 2001 and are for the most part collectable lighters. Here's an interesting one. Called a "Fox Hole Lighter". Requires no fluid. You just drop a spark on to the wick and it smolders. The more the wind, the hotter the ember.

These are some tools I picked up at a yard sale last weekend.
IIRC about $3 for the lot. The little side cutter is worth that to me for knife pins.
I think the tool on the lower right is an old valve spring compressor, but am not sure.
Anyone know for sure?
I am not sure what the device on the far left is called but if you put a rope or cable in the slot and pull on the end with the ring it will tighten up on the rope or cable. I have seen similar devices used for stretching barb wire fencing.
If anyone knows what it is called please le us know.
The needle nose pliers have been modified so they come together at the end with a sharp point on each side.
I can see times I might actually use it.

Hey Dale!
We always called 'em a "wire clamp". Built and/or repaired fences all my life and a wire clamp just makes it at lot easier. Got mine hangin' on the porch of my shop just in case I need it anytime soon

I also still have a couple of WWI "trench art" lighters.
Wasn't CYKLON the same company that made CYKLON B, that was used to exterminate so many at Auschwitz?

Found another curiosity today. This one was in my driveway, so I suppose it could have come off a vehicle, farm equipment, etc, but I don't recognize it. Hopefully the AAPK geniuses will known what it is. The rubber is split and whatever the pins are above the spring appear bent. Anyone know what it is?

Thanks Grant. Guess I'm too used to seeing them with gasket holes. This doesnt have any nor does it have a metal center like others I'm familiar with. Now I'm wondering what I came off of.

Good news is I don't think it was anything of mine.

I do not think it's a diaphragm from a petrol pump (rubber and petrol do not mix)
Could be a diaphragm for water (too small for a water pump)
It could be a presser blow-off valve - or one-way check valve.
Dale, valve spring compressor, I would say for an old side valve.
I hope we never go back to the days, standing on your head - trying to remove valve.
After all that, we had to adjust the valves; some times run the engine and then adjust the valves.
Not so with the Ford V8, remove the valve, machine and lap it in, replace the valve and check the valve clearance; hope fully grind the valve end, then replace the valve - replace the valve and check the valve clearance, perfect; now just do the next 15 the same way.
Then Jaguar and some of the Europeans came up with shimming the valves with buttons - this was another wast of time. Thank God, for the hydraulic valve adjusters - even if the first one needed to be adjusted. Today most valve adjusters are part of the rockers. Some trucks use a hydraulic vale to stop the valves from opening (compression braking)

Thanks guys. Josh it's flat, not cupped, so don't think its a suction cup. I don't have a garmin thingy tho so could be.

You definitely win the prize though!

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Thanks dogg, I figured someone would know the name of it.
Thanks Ken.
I didn't know it was for a side valve engine. I just knew it was different than the other ones I have seen.

I agree, part of the suction/attachment apparatus for a GPS or possibly one of those little notebook holder thingies so one can "drive" and jot down notes while talking on their cell phone in traffic.
The part that sucks itself to the window is thin and flat and does not create the suction until one closes the activating handle, which would pull that metal part up away from the windshield.
The tab on the diaphragm is to break the suction/seal.
