camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Aye Laddie. Sweet old bone handled short line, made in the late '40s or very early '50s. Excellent acquisition.

All right boys, got a question..... Which knife is the oldest? Both being short line, etc., Greg's knife has the pen with the master and Steve's has the coping blade with the master. ::shrug::

Nice tan Rogers bone, blades have seen very little use.

Even though that is a later knife than the first gen, I wonder which is more rare? There couldn't have been many of them made since bone handled 72's didn't last very long after the blade configuration change. ::shrug::

Judging by my meager results searching for shortlines (and bone 72s in general) I've gotta think either configuration is rarer than hen's teeth these days. ::shrug::

Picked up this little Ulster 63 the other day. I guess this would be the place to post it. Some one polished the heck out of this one. Oh well, I still like it.
