Aye Laddie. Sweet old bone handled short line, made in the late '40s or very early '50s. Excellent acquisition.

All right boys, got a question..... Which knife is the oldest? Both being short line, etc., Greg's knife has the pen with the master and Steve's has the coping blade with the master.

Even though that is a later knife than the first gen, I wonder which is more rare? There couldn't have been many of them made since bone handled 72's didn't last very long after the blade configuration change.

Judging by my meager results searching for shortlines (and bone 72s in general) I've gotta think either configuration is rarer than hen's teeth these days.
