That was fast Tom. Good looking knife.
I recently tried REN Wax for the first time a few months ago. I don’t know how I lived without it all these years, it’s amazing stuff.
Thanks Mark! ::handshake:: ::super_happy::

Cool! ::tu:: I just got it (Ren Wax) today. I've been asking myself for days if it was you or Jim who told me about it. ::shrug:: :mrgreen:

This from Case ---> http://casexx.com/Library/JiggingTypes.asp
Ya beat me to it Steve.

Schrade has traditionally called their handles of that era Stagged Delrin regardless of the pattern, although they also had a Stagalon, a sawcut delrin along with a smooth delrin.

A lot of the older Shrades in the 50's and through th 60's had the brown delrin and bone colored delrin with a dark layer that was a close match to the old peach seed jig pattern. But I have also heard some of the old collectors say it was more of a Pine Bark Pattern. Which I think was a pattern also coined by Case.
You guys amaze me with your knowledge! :shock:

Received my Moki knife today from SSK (Mark)…and I must say, I am VERY well pleased! This knife is exactly what Mark said it would be…SPECTACULAR! Even my wife was excited about this one...and she NEVER gets excited about my knives. The blue lapis is amazing…I love this color. The engineering on this knife is GREAT. Tight lines, easy opening, solid lock with no gaps between the liners. Razor sharp right out of the box…and I have missing arm hair to prove it. 😸 👍 This knife feels just right in my hand and will make a wonderful EDC, if I ever decide to carry, but for now, this knife gets a well deserved seat next to my ‘high end’ Buck knives and my Koji Hara, I am that impressed. The leather lined belt sheath is very nice and well built. Overall, from a rating of 1-10…I give this knife an 11. MOKI did a fantastic job on these knives and has made me a believer. I'm really glad I picked one of these SSK editions up. ::ds::

Would like to know the thoughts of anyone else who purchased one of these knives, once they receive it.

Thank you LJ, I am looking forward to what others have to say about it too. You have certainly given this a high recommendation and I appreciate that.

Here is a picture of the knife mentioned in the post.
Here is also a new knife I got today for my collection. A Mcusta from the Kamon (Family Crest) series. The blade is VG-10 core stainless steel and is wrapped in 33 layers of Damascus stainless as well. Stainless steel handles with the family crest cut into it with enamel in the outline. Oiled washer system makes this silky smooth for deployment of the blade. This is my second Kamon series knife, there were 8 all together.

Well Mark, i think you have become the AAPK specialist on high end Japanese cutlery. They certainly look attractive and are made with great precision throughout. I bet the VG10 steel holds it's super sharp edge for many many cuts.

Re: "Peachseed Bone", this is the name for a style of jigging used by Schrade Cut Co. and later by Schrade-Walden. No other company made knives with this type of jigging. Charlie C. has shown how the PS jigging changed over the years beginning about 1910. There are about 7 or so variations of peachseed jigging. Charlie has tried to get knife manufacturers to re-create peachseed jigged bone but no one has been able to duplicate it accurately.
Regarding Delrin it was first used for knife handles in 1960, by Schrade-Walden and within 1-2 years all USA knife manufacturers were using Delrin for some of their knife handles.

Very informative post here KJ! Thanks for sharing that! ::handshake:: ::nod::

I appreciate it how you and many other knowledgeable knifers share your wisdom with us greenhorns who are still wet behind the ears when it comes to knives. I never thought there would be so much to learn about knives. For me, someone who enjoys learning new things, that's another reason why I like this hobby so much. If I had the extra money, I'd be buying some knife books to learn even more about knives but there is always so many knives on my wish list. Looks like it will be a while before I can buy any books about our fun hobby. ::super_happy::

::hmm:: Maybe that's something for my Christmas wish list. ::nod::
::hmm:: I also need a sharpener of some sort. Maybe a Lansky? ::shrug:: ::hmm::
::hmm:: And then I'll end up with a RR & a box of POP-TARTS. LOL! :lol:

Have a great weekend everyone! ::handshake::
YF,
Tom

P.S. @Mark

Great looking knives my friend! Love those blue scales! :shock: ::super_happy::

My three small kitchen knives & Richartz knife showed up yesterday. Nothing to get over excited about. :lol:

Y'all ever buy some knives just because you couldn't find anything better to buy and then as soon as you bought em, you found a couple of knives that you really wanted & ya just had to buy them also? :mrgreen:

That's what happend here. I couldn't find any knives that got me really excited so I bought these 4 from the same seller to "save" on shipping & to feed my addition, and then, I ran across two older Schrade knives that I just had to jump on because I don't often find old Schrade knives over here. ::dang::

And since I knew I had already spent too much on knives for one weekend, I went ahead & bought the Pre Lim & Ren Wax from a seller in England for another €45. Figured, If I'm gonna get in trouble, it might as well be worth it right? ::nod:: The Pre Lim is a non abrasive cleaner. Probably like the Flitz stuff I have. And the wax is a sealing polish/protection type product. I have not tried them out yet though. ::hmm::

Now I'm in dept, in trouble, in the Dog house, grounded from knife spending for 2 weeks ect. ect. ::doh:: It's hard being a knife nut! ::nod:: But I did finally buy the Ren Wax I have wanted for some time now. And it's probably enough to last me for the next 30-40 years. LOL! :lol: I took some pictures of it with a Zippo for size comparison just in case anyone was curious about the amount. They are about the same diameter as a Zippo length & a good bit taller than a Zippo. Surely, the smaller 65ml size would have been more than enough to last me forever but I couldn't imagine how much 200ml is. Now I know that it was overkill. ::doh::

Anyways, I need to go over in the barn and stack some firewood for the larger part of the day. ::doh:: Here are some pictures of my knives & wax. Thanks for looking friends! ::handshake:: :D

Take Care everyone! ::super_happy::

Yes Tom, that is enough Ren Wax to last a lifetime for a guy with a few thousand knives.
The one essential book for knife collectors is "Levine's Guide To Knives and Their Values" by Bernard Levine. The 4th edition is considered the best but it is out of print. If you do find one expect to pay about $100 if it is in good condition. I have read my copy at least 10 times and still refer to it most days. And every time i read it i learn something that i had missed before. It is very well written and packed with important knife information, no 'fluff'.
If you would like a few Schrade USA knives for very reasonable prices i would be happy to send you some. Send me a PM if this interests you.

That’s a nice looking Kershaw. Don’t you just love how sharp those are right out of the box?

I got in this GEC 15 Boy’s Knife today. Barry, at Gunstock Jack’s, sent out an email the other day and he had a few of these customized by Esynx Custom Knives. The handle is Cocobolo with a stainless crest shield. I passed over an ebony one and just couldn’t resist this fine looking Cocobolo. Very nice grain in this one.
