Beautiful jtx. Fabulous bones.
Little jewelers loupe was in the post box today and now my pocket. Makes examining these old stamps and condition in general much more interesting and fruitful.

Thanks, Ivoryman. Your knife has some great bone, too! I also like that loupe.

I used to encourage students to always carry a magnifying glass and binoculars whenever going outside. Better to see the reality and beauty of the world. Sherlock would approve I think.

Iman, 30x is a very strong magnification. Does it give a sharp focus easily ? or does it have to be just the exact right distance and held very steady to see a sharp image ?
I have seen small magnifiers like yours for as low as $5 (or even less !) and expensive ones for over $100.
I bought a 9x Zeiss for $130. It has a cheapo plastic body which soon cracked so lenses now rattle in the frame.
I also bought a 6x $5 China one that gives almost as good a view..

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
You do have to hold it close KJ, but it's easy to find and keep focused, very solid feel, thick glass, easy to use. I don't need 30x, I just couldn't find the 20-25x I think I would like, and these were so cheap I couldn't see wasting more money on less power. Didn't think I needed 45x or more either, or battery operated lights, stuff mounted on it etc. Clean, clear, easy to use, no batteries, low maintenance, tiny in the pocket, feels solid and wouldn't break if you dropped it too. And it's already earned it's keep reading fine print and seeing cracks and reading tangs.

Rediscovered this MAM recently that I had stashed away. A folding knife doesn't get much simpler than this: only four (4) parts total:
1) Solid wood handle with blade channel cut in it
2) Blade
3) Metal collar (bolster)
4) Pivot pin
A unique example of minimalist folding cutlery. Not particularly attractive, no fancy scales or embellishments; but, super lightweight and surprisingly sturdy. And I really appreciate the attention to detail in the way the ricasso has been ground and rounded smooth so there's no sharp corner sticking out when the blade is closed.

Cool MAM Q. Elegance of simplicity there.
geocash, that's a tiny one, what caliber is that? Wow, pocket pistol not much bigger than pocket knife, that's impressive. Looks as small as a .25, but bet it's not. Nice.
Flowers are coming up strong, weird winter, Spring in January and February. Unusual. Blue camel 78 on this warm winter day.

I keep coming back to the Schrade 8OT/881 frame. It's by far my favorite frame, style, and size of knife. Here's the one I carry just about every evening and weekend. I don't get tired of it.

These 2 both arrived in the mail early in the week and have been in the pockets since.
Can't let the big belly on the yellow A.G. Russell convince you she's a pig, in reality she's a lean mean slicing machine. Perfect mechanics & finish here.
Been trying to decide between a bone or tortoise shell handled calf roper from availability at a couple dealers when this desert ironwood showed up for sale by an individual. I jumped on it and glad I did, so smooth this one is.

Ivoryman, Thanks. It's even smaller. .22LR, S&W model 61-3 Escort, made from '70 to '74. My father bought it new. I've never fired it & I'm pretty sure he never did either.
And, there sure have been a lot of nice knives on here since this morning.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Great knives today guys!
I don't have any of my own photos so have to use sellers.
I decided to drop this one in me pocket while i was out working in the shop on my very first File Dagger. Brand new Case XX Pocket Worn Red Bone Medimum Stockman. She's one of my favorites, really nice bone to handle. Just mine is really bright red, almost candy apple. That tells ya, no 2 knives are ever the same.
I got to get some photos of me collection and this dagger when i'm finished. I just keep forgetting too.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
That is my favorite as well, though there are some very close followers. There's a 4" round bolster stockman then of course the two standard sizes of cattle knives, and the 3 1/2" round bolster stockman is excellent as well. The only one of those frames that lasted into the end of schrade is the 8813/881/8ot etc.UnderDawgAl wrote:I keep coming back to the Schrade 8OT/881 frame.
