My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Here is my latest... On the way....
I found one more of the first gen Uncle Henrys.... The 285UH....
It has the first gen Schrade Walden tang stamp and reeded liners. It does need a good clean up.

A couple more 34OT's for the pile. You can never have too many, at least that's what they say. I do like the safety one though, thought that was neat.

Nice one Mike. I don't know that symbol either.

I definitely see 34OT's all the time, for cheap, in really good shape. That's why I keep picking ones up even though I have a ton of them.

Nice knife Ken.

The 1982 in the etch also gives more evidence to schrade using the NY on the stamp into the 80's. ::tu::

These were made for the Sports Afield Magazines 100th anniversary in 1987. The blades were etched by Aurum Etchings. The handle is white bone with a hand scrimshawed bass scene on one side of the handle and "An American Classic 1897-1987" on the other side. It just so happens that I also have that 100th anniversary magazine. I don't think I will throw this one into the bottom of my tackle box. I need to figure out how to store it with the magazine.

Here is an abstract from a thread in BladeForums some years ago:
“…a fine set of knives offered back in 1987. That was the year Sports Afield magazine was celebrating it's 100th Anniversary and they put together a very impressive set of knives to commemorate the milestone.
Included in the set there were two by Schrade, two by Buck, one Coleman-Western, one Case and one Gerber. Seven knives in all and the set went for a whopping $1750.00USD back in '87. All the knives feature animal scrimshaws, blades are mirror-polished and Aurum 24K gold etched with nickel silver bolsters, end-caps, guards etc. 100 of these sets were made and there was even one more super-special set with sterling silver throughout that was auctioned off for a price I assume was way more than $1750.00.”
“these sets came in a fancy cherry and velvet case and a medallion was also included.”
The Schrade knives: stockman (885UH pattern) with a fox scrimshaw and fillet (modified 167UH pattern) with a bass.
Eric Albers: “…I haven't had any luck tracking down that scrimshander. A couple of the guys remember working on the knives, especially the filet since it was unusual, (and difficult), fitting it in bone. They were finished plain, and no one recalls seeing the scrims, which leads me to believe that the work was done off premises and then sent directly to SA.”

Yes they are nice! Your fillet is as well Cal. I haven't seen that before.

A run of the mill acquisition for me. You know I just can't resist minty delrins for good prices (about $22 for this'n). I am pleased.
