It's my first experience hanging out with ironwood & it's been both interesting & enjoyable. I've not had it very long, either. But that two-headed serpent thing was sticking out of a creek bank on the farm when I found it fifty-something years ago. It's been an EDC talisman since then, off & on. Someone, or perhaps several people, here may know more about it than I do but I believe it was a piece of Confederate soldier equipment used to attach something on, or to, a uniform, for those who had uniforms. It's brass & would have come from England & probably has a name but I don't know it by a name. And if this is even close to being correct It doesn't have any magic powers. But I still carry it.

This is what I have today. The frontier is a pass around from the other knife forum, the owner will be giving it to his grandfather for his 101st birthday in august and wanted it to be broken in first, so I'm glad to be part of that. It a good knife to boot.

it has a clip on it .for a strap of some sort ? or a belt ?

Wow man, great story of the find. I thought the thing was cool anyway, especially since it looks like an "S" to me, which is an initial of mine, and then to hear the Confederate fastener bit, well over the top cool. Great find. There are places around here you can go find an arrowheads or artifacts, ghost towns, beachcombing etc. But Never heard of a civil war find around here. You guys back east have them all over. That's very cool. Keep them coming. Kudos

I really like the blonde wood, great grain and different colors. What kind of wood is that? Sweet look. I"m into yellows lately.

That is too cool. Amazing story of two finds half a world apart! Very ingenious article and so simple in its use. It isn't a knife but it held up a belt that maybe carried a knife.
