thanks guys!!!

yep NO serial # on this unit.......why im thinkin early = pre 1900.......
if i were to go by stamped # ON CASE/CASTING it would = 1852 by singers records........
i am all guesses for now...... ::tu:: ..till i hear from some PRO's
i am trying to contact a collector who has a website......a friend who is a seamstress , and she says her mom may know info also (i just texted/emailed her last nite).

i say INDUSTRIAL as of now, because in web research i found old catalogs with descriptions. NO PIX....
that seem to be close........and are for grain sacks, burlap, denim, light leather..........AGAIN A GUESS ON MY END FOR NOW :D

the machine is hand crank...............so may need 2 ppl ??? 1 to crank...1 to feed sack/item????

note the SQUARED main crank wheel!!!!!!!! most are rounded

note ornate base all cast iron/hinged (leads me to think store model) ::shrug::
most are wood and rectangle (lends more to home model style) ::shrug::

it does have a groove for small round leather belt to work on a treadle if wanted ::tu::

i will let ya know what Miss Eyvonne says ::tu:: ::tu:: 8)

....wife just looked thru all her singer stuff.....she has 2 hand -crank machines similar to this one, but hers are in walnut carry cases that resemble an oversize mailbox. she thinks this one may be older than hers which are early-mid 1900's................ ::tu:: ....................

That's my idea of a good buddy and a good gift! My wife and I don't agree, but I say you can never have too much "junk" ::nod:: . A sure way to need something is to give or throw it away, you'll need it in a week ::dang:: , that is nuts, bolts, brackets, short pieces of wire, y'all know where I'm comin' from. Junebug, you won't need a thing for Christmas  .

So, I like old stuff of just about every stripe. We had this old chair around here for a long time and we never sat in it and walked past it a million times and I thought it could serve us/me if it were fixed up some. So I got it reupholstered$ The old stuff sits pretty well and I think it's snappy.
Thanks for looking.

That's beautiful! Very cozy nestled right there in the corner by the window and the radiator. Great little reading nook for your morning coffee and newspaper, etc. Nice color coordination between the walls and area rug, too. Now, if I may be so bold...Mind you, I'm no interior decorator or anything, but that little side table, although convenient, breaks up the feng shui and interrupts the harmony...might I suggest a circular or oval, possibly marble-topped, cherry wood side table instead of the light-colored, rectangular one? For some reason it just seems to call out for something like that. Before you know it, you'll have Better Homes & Gardens asking for permission to publish a photo in the magazine. (I think one of the signs of advanced ageing is when you start making redecorating suggestions to total strangers!)

QTCut5, that's funny. I like all of your suggestions (except that fenge schway word which we never use in this house) but I cant build them. And it's true, I can be found there with coffee and paper, and a pesky cat almost every morning. Thanks.

Jerry, you should have seen me drag the thing out to my car and back in the house to this final LZ. It was a task. No, you can't have. But I wish you could sit in it while we sipped beer and talked knives and guns and all the other stuff I have around here. ::nod::

That's what was missing...the cat! You nailed it, Joe. Screw the feng shui and the cherry wood side table...all this scene lacks is the cat curled up on the chair, licking his paws with a lazy look of contentment on his sly little face...Perfect harmony!

Me too. That would be the seat of honor. All kidding aside, I do love that chair. It was well worth having it reupholstered.

Is this a match holder or does it serve some other purpose?

We had two similar items in our home when I was very young. One hung beside a gas stove in the kitchen, the other next to a coal burning heater in the hallway, close to our three bedrooms.

Neither was marked Keen-Kutter, but both held the ubiquitous, never-to-be-seen-again strike anywhere Blue Diamond matches.

The ones we had had a semi-rounded match container at the bottom so you could just roll a match up into your hand and a partially opened large box of matches was inserted into the upper box-like rectangular portion, feeding the matches into the lower part.

I see these cast iron KK match holders in antiques stores quite often, leading me to suspect they are reproductions.
