These don't pop up that often. When I receive it, I'll check it over. It doesn't look like it's going to need any serious cleaning. I'll take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s). The first three pictures below are of the knife I'm getting. The last three pictures are of the one I have.

I just picked this knife up for best offer. A PROVIDENCE CUTLERY COMPANY, single blade pocket knife with a bottle opener/cap lifter/can opener. Not for any other reason other than to be a companion for the PASTOR ALEMAN, single blade pocket knife with a bottle opener/cap lifter/can opener that I just received (last picture). When it arrives, it will get checked out. Pictures will be taken and posted in the appropriate location(s).

Bought another Kershaw Ken Onion Chive. ::super_happy:: These knives are fun to play around with. This one is a different color though. It's a 1600 SS. The first one was 1600 BLK which I would think means Black but it's more goldish/silver. ::shrug:: They do make one that is truely black. They look pretty good. ::hmm:: Anyways, this 1600 SS is supposed to be unused & in mint condition. Pictures aren't that good but Thanks for looking! ::handshake:: :D

Tom, agreed the Chives are a neat little knife (emphasis on "little") but maybe it's time for you to move on up to a Scallion. The middle knife of the three (Chive, Scallion, Leek), I think you'll like it.

I'm 100% sure your right Jerry! ::tu:: :D Just gotta find one for the right price. The first Chive I got was like €20 shipped. This second one is €16.50 shipped. Can't pass up on such good knives at such good prices. If I run across one of those Scallion's at such a good price I'll grab it. ::handshake:: ::tu:: ::super_happy::

Yesterday I bought a 10 item lot to get the 1994 Camillus catalog. The other 9 items are Case knife related catalogs and advertising (two posts below this one).

Just won this one on fleabay - cheap at twice the price - came in at $21.61. I'm guessing no one really wanted it too badly because of its worn appearance and broken keeper stramp. For me, it's not how a knife looks, but what the knife means in the big picture.

From appearances, I'm calling it a 1931 made NX43, the first year the bifurcated tang construction was utilized.

1931 because the pile side ricasso reads "PAT." over "APPL'D FOR". The next stamp, in 1932, would have read "PAT. PEND." or "PAT. PENDING". Both were used.

I think the seller mis-measured the blade. He states that it is a 4-1/2" blade, but the blade shape says its a 43 pattern, which had 4-3/4" blades. The only 4-1/2" blade in 1931 was the 44 pattern, but that blade had a different shape. So it is either a short 43 or a misshapened 44. By the picture, it does not APPEAR to be reprofiled. I will just have to wait until it comes in for a final determination.

I just bought these two knives. A Geo Schrade, single blade, wire handle, hawkbill pruner pocket knife (the top 2 pictures). A Geo Schrade, single blade, wire handle, sheepsfoot pocket knife (the last 2 pictures). When they arrive, they will both get a good inspection and cleaned if necessary. Pictures will be taken and posted in the appropriate location(s).
