Is the Fale a quill knife?

Yes, I think that's what it is. The blade is shorter than the handle with a filler taking the extra space.

Hey Q - I'm really scratching my head to identify the wood on your S&M ... I'm fairly certain it's wenge from the open grain and color. Can't say I've ever seen it used on a knife - looks really different - I like it.

John, it's actually Rosewood. In my photo the light really makes the grain stand out and appear more prominent than IRL. My iPhone camera tends to produce photos that look like they were taken through a microscope, accentuating every minute detail.
