Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I started calling them clones because Jerry called them clones. And he is my reference point. ::nod:: ::shrug::

I call them clones because they are. They are direct copies of the Camillus 72. The only difference is the tang stamp and the handle material.

Yesterday, this pocket knife arrived. Yet another Camillus 72 variation, a FORGED USA pocket knife. FORGED USA was one of Sears Roebuck & Company's trademark names and was made for them by the Camillus Cutlery Company. I gave a quick once over, took some pictures and here they are.

Here's one I've had for a while that is similar to Skip's Forged U.S.A. but mine is marked High Carbon Steel U.S.A. It has the football shield and full milled back springs with bone handles and the same blade configuration as the First Gen 72. Ive often wondered if this might have been a Sta-Sharp version of the 80 Deluxe. ::shrug::

It looks to be an early one Mr. Gsmith. The old blade arrangement. Wonderful old bones. A variation of a variation maybe. Excellent! ::nod::

This pocket knife will join the variation family, hopefully in about a week. A Camillus 72 (Yello-Jaket), yellow handles, 3 blades, swelled center, "whittler." When it arrives, it will receive a gentle cleaning if needed, but it looks like it's in pretty decent shape. I will take pictures and post them.

This is the latest addition to my Camillus 72 family of variations. A Camillus 72 (72Y), Yello-Jaket, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife. Although very hard to see, the blade etch is present and complete. This knife required no special treatment at all. The pictures are below. Click on a picture to ENLARGE.

Thank you Floyd and Happy New Year.::handshake:: This one is my second "72Y." You can see the obvious difference between my recently acquired one (1st picture) and my other one (2nd picture). And I don't mean the brightness of the handles.

My first Camillus 72 variation acquisition of 2020 is this SCHRADE WALDEN 863, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife. Most of the tang stamp is gone, but there is enough left to make out "WALDEN." The "863" is on the other side. When I receive it, it'll get the once over. It looks like it's in very good condition. I'll take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s).
