thanks Chris, here is a Catt I got in today's mail. It looks like it was a pruner, but not a hawkbill style, the edge is too straight to have had the point sharpened off of it.

that's cool I like the hawk/saw combo knives.

Here is a robeson and a solid bolstered/handled imperial I got in todays mail. Both were bought mainly because they were unique, the imperial has had the top of the blade cut down to better resemble an old sheffield style hawk blade, the Robeson Shuredge has a mis-striked tang, the pattern number is stamped on the mark side as well as the pile, with Robeson Shuredge USA stamped over top of the pattern number on the mark side. The Robeson had paint all over and in it when I got it and it wouldn't snap becuase of the paint rubbing in the movin parts, soaked it in acetone f or a while, had at the exposed areas with some coarse steel wool and got most of it out.

Here is a device I have bought and used to use quite often in the high tech industry at Hewlett Packard and then Agilent Technologies. Depending on power levels (wattage) they work very well.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/d ... umber=3305

They come in different sizes and this is a lower wattage ultra-sonic cleaner. The tank is filled with water, then put your parts to be cleaned in a glass beaker. THE KEY TO MAKING THIS DEVICE WORK AT IT'S BEST IS THAT THE CLEANING FLUID IN THE BEAKER WITH THE PARTS AND THE WATER IN THE ULTRA-SONIC CLEANER ARE AT EXACTLY THE SAME LEVELS.

They sell cleaning fluids BUT beware of those that are flammible. I have used acetone within controlled conditions. IT CAN CREATE A FIRE - EASILY! I did it in under a fume hood with Halon fire extiguishers installed. I will do it at home - OUTSIDE ONLY, with a lid to the beaker in my GLOVED left hand - ready for a fire to put the lid on.

I have not tried this one yet. It was on sale for $24.99 - we'll see, it will do my wife's jewelry for sure. On the units I used which cost a lot more, some knives were so clean by acetone that the blades had to be oiled so that they would just move. They froze shut because they were so clean and lacked oil.

BUT, READ THE WARNING! FLAMMABLES ARE NOT RECOMMENDED IN THESE CHEAP ONES I'M SURE.

They work, BE CAREFUL, AND BE SAFE! Need more 411, just pm, email, or let me know.

I see some nice Hawkbills. ::tu:: ::tu::

Do you have a horizontal scroll bar? maybe I should start resizing my pics down smaller, or use the AAPK upload feature?

Here the the prize (for me) Got this yesterday at the farmers market. Near mint Schrade Cut Co peachseed bone, never sharpened, I jumped for joy when I landed this one. Schrade really knew how to make a knife back then! perfectly matched in both thickness, color, jig pattern, and contour peachseed handles that are jigged all the way around to the liners. This is one of my nicest hawks yet.

pics are kinda bright, will dig out my lightbox and get better ones later, just couldn't wait.
