Thank you Greg. More often it's a Sunday knife but I decided to give it some extra pocket time.

Nice 33s ya'll & some nice bone, unless some of Tsar Bomba's isn't, then it's nice whatever-that-is, too.

Great carries all, like to see the variety. Nice. Bomba, great patina look on the GEC.

QS, is that canoe acrylic or Kirinite? Very interesting handles.
Both knives are "Appaloosa bone." Named after the horse breed due to its mottled coloration. The 033 is Case's interpretation and the big Bull Moose is GEC's version from nearly 40 years later.

Thanks, geocash!geocash wrote:Nice 33s ya'll & some nice bone, unless some of Tsar Bomba's isn't, then it's nice whatever-that-is, too.
Thanks I-man! Never thought a moose pattern would be one of my most-carried knives but this one really is always useful in the LFP. I have my eye on an Appy bone 56 which might steal pocket time however.Ivoryman wrote:Great carries all, like to see the variety. Nice. Bomba, great patina look on the GEC.

.......every time I see a post of yours I look at that picture in the upper left and think about that bomb!!!...I was stationed in N.E. France at the time-we were about 900 miles away, and we never found out about it until 2 days after. the day it was dropped was very overcast in france and we probably could not have seen anything anyhow!!..........

Tsar, that Case is kirinite. What an important advance to have synthetics that won't deteriorate. One of my favorite brands is the Bulldog brand [German] which made scores of handsome knives using celluloid which I refuse to collect
because their potential to deteriorate. I admire the courage of those who collect celluloid covers. In this I am a coward.

Your Moose is looking fabulous. Case pretty good too. Hey maybe KJ will sell you his 56 in Appaloosa bone, he's convinced the seller yellowed the pics and then fraudulently sold it to him. Might let it go since it's not what he thought he was buying. But it doesn't have bone like yours. Yours is great, good color and speckle distribution.Tsar Bomba wrote:QS, is that canoe acrylic or Kirinite? Very interesting handles.![]()

Didn't know I was a fellow coward. Thought it was smart, and I'm unwilling to subject my others to outgassing and corrosive fumes. But that's understandable. I'm with you.Quick Steel wrote:Tsar, that Case is kirinite. What an important advance to have synthetics that won't deteriorate.
