A few weeks back WillyCamaro and I made a trade. His part arrived today, I was pleased with the trade. A lot of my acquisitions the last few years have been in twos, two grandsons interested in pocket knives, y'all understand why, I'm sure. Well there is a 3rd grandson who isn't quite old enough to appreciate a pocket knife yet so I've been planning ahead when he gets a few more years under his belt, I'll help him get started on the bad habit of knife collecting. And then too, there are always other youngsters who with permission would love to have a knife, so this will help with the supply:003.JPG004.JPG
Thanks to several of you fellers in years past for helping with the grandson knives!![]()

Mark, A.G.s Docs are VERY nice knives. Even though I no longer activly pursue Docs, I wouldn't mind having one or two more. I'm convinced the ones made during that time frame were made by Queen. That deer head one in particular is really interesting work.New_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 11:50 pm I haven't done two trips to the post office in one day, in a very long time. Today's afternoon trip produced these knives and one item. The first 2 pictures, it's a CAMILLUS, 3 blade, main blade etched, bee shield, "YELLO-JAKET stockman, pocket knife. It didn't need anything done to it. Pictures #3 & #4, it's an IMPERIAL, 1 blade, 2 tools, "HECHO EN MEXICO" pocket knife. It required no cleaning at all. Pictures #5 & #6 are of a 2 blade, "Deer Head" pocket knife. It has two tang stamps and it is from Japan. It did not need any cleaning. Pictures #7 & #8 are of an Imperial IRELAND, 3 blade, stockman pocket knife. This knife was part of a 3 knife lot that I bought to get the "Deer Head" knife from Japan. I cleaned it up and decided to keep it. Picture #9 is of the Frontier trapper pocket knife. It too was part of that 3 knife lot. It has a broken blade tip. It has two tang stamps and is from China. I decided I don't want this knife and will part with it. Picture #10 is of a 15 page Cutlery Catalog, from Abilene, Texas. It is from the 1955-1956 time span. It is in VERY GOOD condition. Here is everything.

While I'm here, does anyone know what the tang stamp on this "Deer Head" knife means? I know what the "JAPAN" tang stamp means. The pictures of the tang stamps are below. If you can't read the first tang stamp, it's SFB (over) 4 3

Thank you Mark, PB, Jerry and Garry.
Jerry, that makes sense to me. I couldn’t figure out why these A.G.R’s looked so familiar. I like that none of the handle materials are the same as what Queen produced at the time.

In horrible shape. This is even after I've been cleaning it up and still have a way to go. I'll regrind the broken blade into something useful. Someone's already tried, but I think I can do better with it.
I got tired of missing out on authentic GI knives on ebay, they go for more than I'm willing to pay now, so I broke down and just got a new Marbles.
The fly fisherman is also Marbles. I got it just because it's cheap and odd. Plus my wife will eventually get to give me an "I told you so" when I jab myself with the jighead cleaner. She always appreciates that.

I have seen that stamp before on some listings of various Japanese made knifes, and postings usually said they were made by Seki Japan. From research I've done, Seki is a conglomerate of several Japanese Knifemakers. A lot of the tang stamps with SFB have been from knives made in the late 60's early 70's. Unfortunately I've never been able to find a list anywhere of the tang stamp codes for Japanese Manufactures .New_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 5:45 am

epragueknives.com use to carry older Seki Knifes. I found this listing from a while back.
There is also a website that carries a lot of Seki products, you possibly could be able to send them an email with photo's and info on your knife and maybe they could help in what the "SFB" signifies. https://japaneseknifedirect.com/contact.html
This is also an interesting site with many links to others. https://orientalsouls.com/blog/japanese ... ters-make/
I think I would try to contact Japanese Knife Direct email and see if they could hook you up with anyone.

Well thank you, dodged a bullet there! I could've sworn it was broken and "fixed". I've never seen one like this. The versions of this knife I've seen and almost bought before had a sheepsfoot, almost a hawkbill blade there. Now that you say this, it makes sense with where the nail nick is, being so low down and on the opposite side of the blade. This is what I thought it was, also called S-3, but definitely different. It's still sold as a 1550-6. I wonder how old this thing is? Thanks, I appreciate this find a lot more now.
Another one from ebay with the same blade as they sell now. Mine is clearly different with that 3rd blade.
edit: found another with the same blade, but even this one is a different layout being 2 blades and no spear point. No info on year.

No kidding and that would've been today probably. Plus it's a lot more interesting now, I have reason to spend more time cleaning it up. I know Kleins aren't worth anything, but I love the brand and a good carbon steel (I'm assuming) utility knife can't be a bad thing.

Today my morning trip to the post office produced these knives. First up is a KASTOR & BROS, ADOLPHUS BUSCH, 2 blade, 2 tool pocket knife. No, Mr. Busch isn't present. It needed a bit of a cleaning. Next is an "unbranded" (just stamped ROSTFREI), single blade, 6 tool, "Deer Head" pocket knife. It has both a 12 gauge and a 16 gauge, shotgun shell puller. I just wiped the blades and tools with a cloth. Then comes a single blade "slide" pocket knife. This was included with the "Deer Head" pocket knife and it functions fine. Last is a Girl Scout, single blade, utensil kit pocket knife. This one is a BOKER and is stamped as such. It required no cleaning. I took some pictures and here are the knives.

If not for Barlows (and the occasional sunfish) I may not have ever gotten into traditional folders.

My son and daughter in law and grace sent me some money for my birthday and said to spend part of it on a knife. Who am I to argue with that sort of reasoning so I obliged. Not something I would focus on collecting but I did want an example of one so I picked up this one out of the bay. Look at me I am an international buyer as the seller is in France. Pictures tell the story, thanks for looking.
