I had a great week for knifers this past week. Racked up a new personal record for # of knives recieved. I'll start off with a beautiful group of 6 knives sent to me from PA. Lotta First time stuff for me & my collection. My first real Scout knife, my first Craftsman, my first Barlow, my first Wostenhom & Son, my first Punch blade, my first Keen Kutter & two nice Imperials. 1 US & 1 Ireland made Imperial.
Thanks a Million Ryan for all these great additions to my collection!!!

#6 - It's a CAMILLUS 177, 2 blade, main blade etched, stockman pocket knife. It came with the original box and steel sharpening rod. It needed no cleaning at all.

Last but certainly not least, picture #10 is of two boxes of chocolate, single decker, Moon Pies. Tom (TPK) needs his Pop Tart fix, I need my Moon Pie fix and now I'll take care of that.

LOL SKIP! I remember those Moon Pies, however it is many many moons ago since I had any. Great finds you got there my friend! I especially like that Camillus! That's a real beauty! Love to find one of those over here some day!

Now pay attention Buddy cause I have some catching up to do on the 9 knives I got this week.

Uh, you might want to check your brakes to make sure they're still working. Either that or check with the family to ensure they are willing to subsist on beans and rice.

The next two knives I recieved are two Bear & Son Cutlery knives from Jacksonville Alabama.

These are my first knives from Bear & Son Cutlery. The small Stockman is nice except for a curve in the main blade. Not sure if this was intended or an accident but it won't make it easy to sharpen. It will still make a nice EDC though.

The Limited Edition Large Trapper is great! It has handsome bone handles, nice F&F & although it's larger than what I normally tote around, I will EDC this one at Christmas time.

Overall, I am well pleased with these knives and I may add a couple more of them to my collection, especially if they were on sale somewhere.

Now I know you should not brag & I'm not trying to brag, but this next knife is something else!
For the price these things sell for, everyone should give them a shot! Really well made knives in my opinion. This one looks even better than it does on my pictures & although it should be in my show case, it will soon be in my EDC rotation getting a lot of pocket time. I think I finally figured out what Brads I'll be concentrating my somewhat limited resources on. The occasioal Case now & then & more of these Klaas knives for me in the future. This one has Horn handles & is 3 1/2 inches in length.

These are my first knives from Bear & Son Cutlery. The small Stockman is nice except for a curve in the main blade. Not sure if this was intended or an accident but it won't make it easy to sharpen. It will still make a nice EDC though.

LOL Skip! All I can say is s**t happens! Looks more impressive than it actually is though Skip. The first six came from Ryan, the other 3 I got good prices on em. Altogether less than the price of a nice new Case.

Any collection or accumulation is impressive. It doesn't matter how or from whom you obtained your cutlery, just as long as you obtain it and YOU enjoy it.

I'm wondering if the curvature was created in an attempt to prevent blade rub. No way to know of course. Just speculating Tom. But you have some very nice looking knives.

I know what you are referring to QS. Nope, I mean a curve on the cutting edge. If you look at the pictures carefuly I think it is visable. The blade edge is like a flat "S". From the base it curves this way first ) then turns back the other direction going this way ( to meet the blade point.

Today, my trip to the post office produced this bounty. Pictures #1 &#2 - It's a 2012 Case XX, 6207 SS, 2 blade, MINI TRAPPER with Olive Green handles, pocket knife. It came with the original box. It needed absolutely no cleaning. Pictures #3 & #4 - It's an EDGECO CUMOSA, single blade, "automatic" pocket knife. My fourth CUMOSA, my third by EDGECO. I added the rawhide lanyard. It needed no cleaning. Pictures #5 & #6 - It's a CAMILLUS 177, 2 blade, main blade etched, stockman pocket knife. It came with the original box and steel sharpening rod. It needed no cleaning at all. Picture #7 - It is a 1992 SCHRADE+, single drop point (etched) blade, zytel handles, lockback pocket knife. Schrade was one of the sponsors of the NASCAR #33, SKOAL BANDIT race car. The driver was Harry Gant. Except for some minor yellowing to the plastic container, this item is in MINT condition. Picture #8 - It is a 1993 Case, single drop point (etched) blade, zytel handles, lockback pocket knife. Case made a series of pocket knives featuring NASCAR drivers. This knife features Harry Gant, driver of the #33, SKOAL BANDIT race car. It is in MINT condition in the original, plastic container. Picture #9 - It's a fixed blade, with a "deer(?) head" handle, pocket knife. It needed no cleaning. It is in VERY good condition. Last but certainly not least, picture #10 is of two boxes of chocolate, single decker, Moon Pies. Tom (TPK) needs his Pop Tart fix, I need my Moon Pie fix and now I'll take care of that.

Nice additions to your collection. With two boxes of Moon Pies to boot. Man, those are a southern staple right there.

A couple more light colored Colonials

A Couple of Providence Cuttlery Co. One Slant Bolster and The Single blade with the church key is a cutie.

A Schrade and Schrade Walden Fruit knife

Some Kutmasters

And I have one more Kutmaster in the mail, hopefully here monday.

I was away for about a week, so I am just now catching up with you guys. Some great additions I see from all of you.

I've seen too many straight razors with that "frown" to know exactly what it is - the result of poor sharpening.
Too much taken off the toe and heal of the blade during sharpening results in a "smile", too much taken out of the belly and you have the resulting "frown".

I thought it was the result of bad sharpening but with me still being wet behind the ears, I wasn't sure. Maybe the guy was new on the job or just having a bad day. We all make mistakes.

So whenever I try to sharpen this one on a normal two graded flat stone, will I end up reforming the blade? And is that very time consuming? Just curious.

Shepherd Hills Cutlery Summer of 2020 catalog. There are some
mighty fine looking knives in it.
