Here's a couple I picked up in a trade last night. I'm a novice when it comes to GEC but have accumulated several over the past few months and really like them. Obviously a top of the line knife. The first knife is an Elk 234109 ECL with a liner lock. The blade has a 1 of 50 etch but according to the 2009 production totals for this model there were 26 serialized and 2 unserialized. So, were there only 28 made or were there 50? The 2nd knife is a 538308 in red stag. Last question. All my other GECs are Northfield so I am not familiar with the Cyclops Steel Works stamp on the Great Easterns. Is Cyclops only on the Great Easterns and not on the Northfields and Tidioutes?

Only made 28 pcs. total , of your Elk***

Cyclops Steel Works markings, denote 440C Stainless Steel (as does the Acorn Shield)----others are 1095 Carbon Steel (general rule of thumb**)

Congrats on a couple of ""XXXXXXXXXX Nice Knives"" !!!!!!!! ::tu::--- I have the Prototype of the Red Stag*** (I really dig,the Cuban pattern !!!)

great eastern on many occasions had full intentions to make a run of certain patterns with 50 pieces but ran into one problem or another. a catalog of actual productions is published by the company. some models only came in one piece or even 3 pieces. one of the problematic handles was the black pearl looking glass; these had a high breakage rate so it's doubtful that this handle material will be seen again....HiPower

There are a couple or three recent releases that reinvigorate my interest in GEC and raise my lust level. That Northwoods Forest Jack is one, big time. The Eureka Jack is another.

7/16-ish

I'd imagine the 2-blade version runs a bit wider. The "linerlock" itself is only a 1/16.
