Hello to AAPK,

Here's my first post & I'm trying to attach an image to boot with it maybe even oriented how I want it.

A 1970 bone Barlow, without a number on a tang, & a 1974 pen with bone that had so much corrosion on the blades & in the pivots when I acquired it, recently, that the master blade had to be pushed to close. The patina's gone now, but so is the rust. And, after penetrating solvent, & oil & exercise, I'm surprised how it snaps.. It turned out better than I expected for EDC, I'm tickled. You all know how that is, I'm sure.

Welcome geocash!

I too am toting a Case Barlow, mine is from the XX era and has quite a few miles on her, but is still fit for duty!

SWEET!! Make sure to show that one when it arrives... Just off the top of my head, I didn't know the numbers went that high. Sounds like a real prize!
I think zed might mean 34OT, the medium stockman pattern which IIRC is a rebranded Schrade 834. I've got a 70s-era 34OT in my totin' box but it's got some wobble to the main blade and seeing as it's a Swinden knife I'm not sure that's something I can fix. I might fish another one out of the bay soon.

::welcome:: geocash! Looks like your post came out just fine. ::tu:: The 10-dot Case Barlow happens to be one of my all-time favorite knives and if I'm seeing it right your pen knife appears to be a 62033 or 6233 - usually the California clip variant is designated 033 but I have a yeller 3233 from the early '70s with that style blade. The 33 is probably my favorite small Case frame. Nice carries, and glad to have you on AAPK!

I went with dual Cases today too. The SG63047 got another ride yesterday with the big Copperlock, and I stayed with these two today.

Thanks Quick, late in the day sun.
geocash, great bones on both of those. I love a good clean up story too. Kudos. Looks great for having been covered with rust. I've seen rusty Case steel come right back to like new before. Sweet job, welcome to AAPK, keep showing us fine stuff like that.

Ah yes..... The old 34 OT...
I have a few of those. I even have one of the "doesn't exist" 84 OT's (really a 34 OT).

I love to stir up the Old Timer folks with that one. Sure looks like an 84 OT to me.....LOL.

That Pen knife looks great! You did a mighty fine job cleaning it up. Great looking knife.

313 mike, Tsar Bomba, Ivoryman & Railsplitter,

Thanks, it's good to be here & yes, that was a 6233 yesterday.

Today's bone Barlow, from the '50s, '60s or early '70s I believe, looked pretty rough when I got it, but it really wasn't. It was merely affordable. It's got strong springs & good bone without a lot scratches, yet. Those will come. You can still see pitting on the bolsters but it wasn't as deep on the blades. I bought the small jack, a 6227, new in the late '60s. It's been sharpened, a lot, & the scales are almost smooth but it's still very tight.

BH, I recognize the Old Cutler. That is a knice array of cousins. Of the three do you detect any difference in quality? I would suspect they are all pretty equal. Nice group.
