jerryd6818 wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 12:49 pm Tom, it's a crying shame you have to suffer under the draconian knife laws of Germany. There's a whole new world of Kershaw knives for you to discover (with and without their patented "Speedsafe" opening system).

Since you like the Chive, you may want to consider moving up a notch to the Kershaw Scallion at 3½" closed. A skosh larger than the Chive which has a closed Length of 2-7/8" but not as large as the Leek at 4" closed.

Edit: Here's a link to some Kershaw knives for you to drool over. It's sort of the modern day equivalent to the Sears catalog of years past. ---► https://www.knifecenter.com/department/ ... ing-knives
That Scallion looks great & the size is great also! I'll check out the link latter on this evening. Thanks for the input my friend! ::handshake:: ::super_happy::

Garry, I like that Dog Bone shield on that Bulldog.
Tom, I have a few of those and they are very neat knives. Kershaw makes great knives, even the ones made in China are pretty darn nice too.

I retrieved this knife from the post office this morning. Another Craftsman 9494, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife. It needed a little cleaning, it received one. I took some pictures and here it is. Sorry that the pictures are blurry, my camera is starting to crap out.

I like those Craftsmen knives. Reminds me of my wife’s father who had a ton of Craftsmen equipment and tools and of course carried a Craftsmen knife.

Got these two Mcusta’s in today and couldn’t be happier. Both are from the Custom Limited Edition line, which means they only produced 50 to 60 of each one, usually two different handles with a San Mai blade on one and a plain VG-10 blade on the other so a total of 4 versions. The Kaeru “frog” is from 2008 and the Budonoki “vine” is probably from around the same time. Cocobola on the frog and not certain what the wood is on the vine. Nickel silver on the inlays. Just can’t beat the artistry and craftsmanship of these Mcusta’s

Very knice Skip. I saw a Craftsman the other day with a Craftsman shield and a Schrade tang stamp. Do you have one of those? Easy to see how it could happen. ::tu:: ::tu::

Thank you Floyd. ::tu:: To answer your question, I have 9 Craftsman 9494 knives, NONE have a Schrade tang stamp. Yes, I see out it could happen also. I have to keep my eyes open for one of those now. ::tu::

The problem with cheap but interesting knives is it's so easy to just go ahead and order.
The black one is interesting to look at, but the other, not the best color combo, but a very usable knife and solid.

I really like the jigging on this. Very even across the whole thing rather than smoother ends and jigging primarily in the middle like you often see.

Thanks all.
When you think about the labor and attention to detail this must take, it is amazing. These knives each take several hours to produce and when you look at them up close you really get an appreciation for the high quality that these are. To really appreciate them fully, you have to hold one in hand and open and close it, nothing like it compares.

Now Mark, don't you try and get me to buy more knives that I don't need, especially when I have other pressing priorities ::huff:: .
Every one of the Japanese knives you show us is exquisite, that one no exception ::nod:: ::tu:: .
If I was a super wealthy businessman, or won the lotto, those would be the knives I would collect/edc. But allas, not a wealthy man, or won the lotto, so it's a dream, but a good dream non the less :D . Maybe if my business one day starts turning a nice profit i'll start acquiring them, but for now just enjoying yours thoroughly ::tu:: .
And nothing to report on my end these few months (if you don't count all the other stuff I've been buying  ), maybe a nice knife, or 2. will show up in the mail, one of these days ::paranoid:: . You never know, it's a strange world out there, ya know!
Keep the good mail calls a coming fellers, keeps us on are toes ::tu:: .
