Very fascinating. I'm the unofficial genealogists for my family and like Jerry with his family I've run into lots of dead ends with several branches. Many of my ancestors were sharecropers and moved around a lot. That makes it more difficult.

But daddy's momma's family, the Jackson family, I have them all the way back to 1670 in Londonderry, Ireland. I suspect they were part of the plantation and originally came from Scotland or northern England. More of those trouble making Scots Irish! Maybe Rangerbluedog's family and mine ran in the same circles back in the day.

That is likely true Colonel. Life in Londonderry would have been a tough one. To this very day, you can tell an Irishman's politics by what he calls that City.
To the loyalists, it is Londonderry.
To the nationalists it is called either Derry or Free Derry.
You see it on the maps as "Londonderry/Derry".
It is the only remaining completely intact walled city in Ireland.

Nice tailgate of pistols Dogg! Another descendent of Scotch-Irish here (Tormey and Byers from County Cavan and County Westmeath) and Maye's from Scotland, we even have Turnage's from Wales to round out our mongrel pedigree! OH

Dogg, I didn't have to do anything to mine to make her a smooth operator and a good shooter.

That 22 thing is just crazy. Wow.

The thing I keep thinking though was what kind of damage is he doing to the bore of those guns? No way I'd do that. And that old Remington is far from a beater imo.

Why should it do any more damage (none) than a regular .22 round. All the same components there, they just don't come as an assembly.

Not sure how the pellet will perform in a rifled barrel. That said, not sure if a pellet gun is rifled barrel or not. Personally, I am with Wade.
.22 gun made for are not meant to shoot this. Will it work? Likely maybe but I am not trying it. Wonder how much a .22 pellet weighs versus a 22 bullet? Likely alot less so impact damage may be minimal. Seems like alot of work per round and I have more than enough .22 rimfire to go there.
Interesting point though, thanks for bringing it up as I never heard of it. just not sure.

Because it is traveling twice as fast as a regular .22 round.
A little more velocity equals a lot more energy.

Steel bullets aren't very kind to a barrel versus lead I believe. Could be wrong...

That's what I was thinking. Most pellets I've seen are steel. I sure wouldn't want to be jabbing them down the barrel of my gun. I can't imagine what that would do to the bore.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm awful particular about my guns.

Yes dogg, but I did a little research while I was sitting here and the pellets I found, have a steel (titanium ?) core embedded in lead.

The only steel pellets I was able to find online (quick search. There may be more.) are made in Hungary.

Some will never do this. Some may try it as a one time fun diversion. There may even be a handful that will use it as a cheap afternoon of target shooting. That said, using normal off the shelf lead pellets, I don't see this doing any more harm to your firearm than the normal off the shelf .22 cal. ammunition. JMO

Hmmm. You raise a good point Cuz. I still wouldn't do it I don't think. To my guns that is. But it is real interesting.

Sorry Cuz. I just can't wrap my mind around what harm you think you might do to your guns. Lead - lead. Gunpowder - gunpowder. ::shrug::

If I can find A: pellets (had some at one time) and B: blanks (again had some) I think I'll give this a try in my old single shot Remington.
Looking for the magic penny!
