My kind of restaurant. Are you from the Shiner area? When we attended my Nieces graduation from Air Force basic training a few years ago, we took a day and drove north into the hill country. I was surprised to find there's a large German community in that area. (Yes, I know Shiner is east of San Antonio)

No, I live in North Texas in the Denton area, but I drink Shiner!

I should have figured it out from your avatar. If you had been from South Texas, the Houston @$$holes would most like have been your avatar.

Well if I knew you better, I would make some smart @$$ed remark about being an urban cowboy and a Yankee Texan but since I don't know you well enough and I don't want to piss you off, I won't.

I've heard of Shiner Bock but it's one brand of beer I've never tried.

And why all this hostility to those of us from Texas?

No, no, no. There's no hostility here. Did I need more smiley faces? Note to self: Use more smiley faces.

BUT

It's like the Marine Corps and the Navy only in this case it's Texas and the other 49 states.

Ahhh, I see, said the blind man! Mea Culpa.
And speaking of beers you have never tried, has anyone out there ever tried Griesedieck Beer? I'm sure I didn't spell it correctly but I did try it once and believe me once was enough. ::barf::

Yes, I am a Texas Rangers fan and have been all my life. As well as a Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks fan. ::tu::
jerryd6818 wrote:being an urban cowboy
No, not hardly. I grew up in Wichita Falls near the Oklahoma border, more like small town sized than big city, and am a born and raised Texan but half my blood runs Okie red!

Not sure what a Yankee Texan is but it don't sound right to me. I am not a Yankee but I am a Texan so I guess your half right!
jerryd6818 wrote:I've heard of Shiner Bock but it's one brand of beer I've never tried.
Shiner makes some great beers. Bock is just one of many styles they make. I prefer the Black Label, Blonde and some of their seasonal beers. Bock is OK. It is probably their best seller since it is so well known that when folks here Shiner beer they think Shiner Bock.

So Jerry, being from Illinois are you a White Sox fan or a Cubs fan?

And for all you Pennsylvania folks, have you tried "Old Frothingslosh"? The Pale Stale Ale with the Foam on the Bottom.

Okay then. Since the friendly ribbing isn't going over so well this morning, I guess it's time to get semi-serious.

I've heard of both Griesedieck and Old Frothingslosh but have never tried either one of them. I have tried Fox Deluxe and that's the nastiest swill that's ever passed my lips, followed closely by National Bohemian. On the other hand Yuengling Lager is one of my top five brews. You Penciltucky boys are lucky to be right in the middle of knife and good beer country.

Yes Stress, sad to say, I'm a Cubs fan although I was pulling really hard for the Rangers last year. They beat the Yankees and that made me happy but I really, really wanted to see them and my boy Josh Hamilton take the Series. I admire what that young man has done to turn his life around. I can partially relate because the son of my closest Cousin is/was a crack-head and has also straightened his life out. (Is it like alcohol, once you are, you always will be?)

I'm sorry you didn't find the urban cowboy (live close to Dallas) or Yankee Texan (Way north in Tejas) humorous. Sometimes (most of the time) my sense of humor falls flat on it's face and is only funny to me. No offense intended.

I was pulling for Texas too but it seems just getting to the big dance is hard enough. Maybe they get back, maybe they don't. ::shrug:: Still like to watch them play tho.

Offense was not taken on any thing. I just didn't get it :? until you said the above. ::doh::

Oh well! -------------------

If you have a can of kraut in the cupboard you're not quite sure what to do with, try one of these 1950's recipes. Mmm Mmm. Good and so good for you.

Or maybe this tempting delight from Miracle Whip.

Thank You - I have been a motor head all my life - from motorcycles to trikes to street rods to antique cars - The C5 Corvette is the best bang for you buck in the sport cars - performance car - muscle car world - PERIOD! Fun car - Great handling car - Mine only has about 375 HP as it sets - so it's not the fastest car on the road but it gets me there ::tu:: - I get 28 MPG on the road - I have owned C3's & C4's - This C5 is awesome! I like the looks of C5 better than of the newer C6 - If I had money I guess I would have a new 631 HP C6 regardless of looks but I don't but I'm not crying - I'm a happy camper -

Sorry, no pics as I am on mobile and far from home.
Grandpaw had one of those foot powered wheels (and really took some blade on one knife on it)
Grandad had a wheel like that (grinder I think) that was hand cranked.
I had a bunch of reels. Not so many left now, but do have a couple Pflueger Rockets on period rods that were Grandpa's.
Had a bunch of Hotwheel and other diecast all gone now.
Still have a fair number of diecast Cranes. But nowhere to display like I used to have.
not many broomsticks left. But have 6 .22 rifles.... and one Russian "Loudandboomer" left.

Maybe SOME pics next time home.

Does anyone know what this is? I confess, I don't. I had never taken a close look at it before so I was messing around with it after I took the pictures. I have decided I may have the rod stuck in from the wrong end. I thought it was for shooting nails into concrete but now I've backed off on that guess. I'm pretty sure it's something you use in conjunction with a hammer and the big end of the rod is where you strike it. After that...

It is a tool used to nail baseboard heating back sections to the wall with.
Put a nail in the tube and hit the bar sticking out the back end.
Or just use it to start a nail in hard to reach places.
Has the over hanging lip so you don't hit your hand with the hammer.
I have one shaped like that, and a narrow skinny one.
Now I am going to have to go find them.
