Re: what do ya'll look like?
I'm feeling pretty good...I was mis-diagnosed with COPD about 5 years ago...turns out that I have asthma...one of the most severe cases the doc's have ever seen. The asthma has done so much damage to the arteries in my lungs that they in turn have caused severe damage to my heart. The left side is barely pumping. Because of the poor circulation, fluid is not being picked up and it's all been pooling from my knees down. I was plagued with golf ball size water blisters on the tops of my feet which left my feet a mass of raw sore skin. I haven't been able to wear shoes for nearly a month and a half or even get in the shower as the water hitting my legs was too painful. Just in the last couple days they've got the swelling down and I'm going shopping for shoes this evening. My lungs are too shot to have any type of surgery so the only thing that can be done is to treat the asthma..too little too late and I'm allergic to just about everything...cats, dogs grass and trees.. If the V.A, docs had caught their mistake even 2 years ago I would be well on my way to better breathing. They figure I got about 6 months to go and believe me, I intend to prove them wrong. I'm planing for the worst and hoping for the best. I'm selling a good part of my collection now and will save some for later. I had an idea about buying a bike but the 6 month thing kind of shot that too heck...now I'm thinking I'll take an 8 hour class, get my motorcycle endorsement and just rent a Harley. Bucket list time
So that's what is going on, I want to thank every one for their good thoughts and words, but if worse comes to worse, my good dog Acorn in the picture is waiting to jump up and lick my face...she passed just this last November and she is sorely missed.

I have a hard time trusting someone who doesn't like dogs...but if my dog doesn't like someone, I'll trust that.
Acorn, a better friend than I deserved, gone but never forgotten...run fast and free 11-5-2018 I'll see you soon

Re: what do ya'll look like?
This is me down through the years, from 1962 when my buddy and I left for boot camp until present day. I hope nobody throws up in their mouth.
June 1962 - My buddy Fred Stivers and me waiting for the bus that would take us to St. Louis to take the oath. Self explanatory. Home on boot leave with my mom, dad and brother. Shortly after our arrival in Viet Nam. Shortly before leaving Viet Nam. Steve Kjentvet and I had just been promoted to Corporal. My son and I going 900 MPH in the driveway. Shortly after I went to work for Amdahl. Shortly before I left Amdahl. Black Hills of South Dakota, taking my son to Montana for his senior year of high school. After I retired.

That was a brushed denim three piece suit. Very stylish in '79.Quick Steel wrote:I know, but still your sartorial splendor in 1979 was...impressive is the only word for it.

Great pics Jerry, thanks for sharing.. I especially like the one of you and your buddy waiting for the bus to take you to boot camp. Oh the trials and challenges you had in front of you, and you had no idea...

Excellent time line Marine !
I don't recall you mentioning a brother before. Couldn't help but notice the wheelchair.

Re: what do ya'll look like?
He was born crippled. My mother had a hard time birthing children and he was born at home, out in the country in December of 1940. He walked up until age 16 but never talked. He spent the last ten years of his "life" (if you can call it that) in a bed in a nursing home with a feeding tube stuck in his stomach. Mom and Dad were both gone by that time.royal0014 wrote:Excellent time line Marine !
