Little jewelers loupe came today, incredible improvement from my 5x Sherlock Holmes magnifying glasses, and so small it fits anywhere and gets into the small tight areas so much better than a big glass. In the pocket this is like it's not even there. Came in handy already and will when ever I'm examining something with fine print, tang stamps, condition in general, issues, cracks etc. Really blows it up for you, more than I need pretty much, but I like this power. And the sleek little fold up construction. And came in 2 days, less than five smackers shipped from S. Carolina. Was worth all of that and then some. My travel partner to all future knife/gun shows. Great for checking out small detail in anything.

Iman, Sherlock could only wish to have something as groovy as these. I used to encourage students to have a magnifying glass and a pair of binoculars whenever they went outside. Would help them to really "see" the world. Such was my hope.

That's great advice, I wish one of my teachers would have told us that, or dad and mom, scout leader, coach, whatever. Nope. Never heard it. And I live by that now. Binocs, glasses, magnifiers, now loupes. I carry them all regularly. See a whole new world. Great advice that should be shared.Quick Steel wrote:Iman, Sherlock could only wish to have something as groovy as these. Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
I bought one like this around the time I turned 40 and since then I carried it every day. It's only 4X & 2-1/8" X 1-5/8" but for older eyes it's a life saver. I lost it sometime in the last year so I bought another one. A little bit different but it's also 35 years newer. I may not use it every day but when needed, it's Johnny on the spot and as close as my right hand pocket.

Through the generosity of Farside, I was able to purchase this AAPK whittler. Came the other day and it is beautiful! Thanks Tim for such a great little knife. And did I mention that it's sharp?

Doglegg, that is a beauty. Love the bones, the swell center, the pinched bolsters, the AAPK stamp. Killer whittler. Congrats and very cool of Farside. Sweet.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Saturday morning post office run produced these four, probably one of my best Saturday scores in a while. I'm a big fan of Schrade cut co with the jigged bone handles and I've been wanting an old robeson, the split back was a bonus. The catt has been lost in the mail since the 21st, I went as far as having my postmaster do a lost merchandise /mail inquiry. The case was posted as a " back-pocket " with a starting bid of 40 or best offer, I contacted the seller and asked what they wanted for it a I was told 60 and I couldn't type fast enough.
I knew what it was immediately, but I didn't feel like it was my responsibility to tell someone how to price their merchandise..
I asked someone close to me their thoughts on the purchase and we discussed the whole Ebay monster.. You have to move quickly and you must be able to not to be lured by the counterfeits and frankensteins,worn-out rollovers or new listings by shady dealers, and while doing all of that you are looking for that great deal.. That is the object on Ebay..isn't it? What are your thoughts???~JP

I know, I couldn't believe it myself.. Me and my pops love the old Case knives and I have not had a chance to get a Bose, but when I looked at them the lock back whittler is the one that always caught my eye. The old knives are getting harder and harder to find and when you do find a nice one you better have deep pockets. This northfolk will be a pleasant addition to my collection, it's a really nice knife.

The Case/Bose Norfolk is one of the very best 'collabs' in all ways: design as well as fit & finish. The Norfolk is an old Jos. Rodgers pattern (No 6 Norfolk St.) and i think is The Most Pleasing of all pocket knife patterns. You will be amazed. And the jigged bone is exceptionally fine on these.

Here is an odd assortment of 3 knives, all older, all brand new, which are being sold by a very large ebay knife dealer (eprague).
2 3/4" Parker "Collector Series" lock back
2 3/4" Parker bone lobster knife
and a 5" C.I. steel lock back with handle inlay.
C.I. is "Compass Industries". They had knives made in Japan in 1980's ? They are good knives, not Moki level, but usually better than average from Japan at that time. This big 5" folder is rather odd but is strong and hair poppin' sharp. Kind of knife that could last a lifetime. For $12, an excellent deal.
