I like that Coleman! The tang stamp made me smile. Who makes the knife for Coleman?

Know what year that is? Very nice stag, beautiful knife all around. Thought Queen made some for them, but don't know about all of them. Thanks if you have any info.geocash wrote:This was delivered in my mailbox at 10:43am - a 4 1/4" Stockman, Colonel Coon trade mark. Slick.

Ivoryman,
It looks & feels like a Queen & it wasn't priced like it was made by Tennessee Knife Works. So, 2006 or later is my guess. The fit & finish are very good and each blade has a smooth, strong snap but each blade has a tiny, tiny wobble, too.

I'm about 75% sure that's a Queen build, on the 49 frame. The only Queen stockman I still lack.Ivoryman wrote:Know what year that is? Very nice stag, beautiful knife all around. Tsar Bomba,
Other than the scales, I think that Queen is a perfect match for the Colonel Coon in my pocket. Thanks.

This Boker just walked in that I got from the guy selling the Stidham knives. He put in the BRIEF description.... "punch blade is loose". well here it is and now I know why. He failed to mention one of the SPRINGS WAS BROKEN......
So, now I have to take it apart and make a new spring.
All I wanted to do was a little clean-up and tote it for a while....BUT NOOOOOO... Major surgery ahead.
Y'all can buy from him if you want.... BUT as for me....Stick in the knife and fork.....I am done!

Well, he got me with the huge discount....bighomer wrote: He never had anything I thought I needed at the prices he wanted, but everybody knows I'm a cheapskateing bottom feeder.
Starting price..... $189.99
Discount........... $142.49
WOW! ONLY.........$47.50
He threw the lure and I bit hook line and sinker.
The blades looked good.... not a lot of wear.
I don't need any more of those Stidham knives.

Tsar Bomba,
I finally got around to looking at the box the Colonel Coon came in. It looks sorta generic for Colonel Coon Knives. High carbon 440 SS, N/S bolsters & brass liners. And, the sticker has "CC49." What more could you ask?

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
This little Ka-Bar pen came today. It has NO model number on the tangs. It was listed at having stag handles, and I think they might be - but I'm not sure? I couldn't find this exact tang stamp in the Ka-bar charts. Is it somewhere in the 1950s or 60s? Last weekend I had a run of wins of knives that are not in my usual comfort zone. Learning new things is fun!

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
First knife delivery to our new home came today; one of the offshore “thank you” knives the NRA sends for financial donations. The knife looks nice, two sharp blades in a Moose pattern. However it has all the charm of a Chinese knife; gritty, mild snap, very slight amount of blade wobble - but just right to gift a kid for a first “training knife.” OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Glad you like it Jerry. I do too. Interesting shield and bolsters on your Trapper. I have to exercise caution with the RRs. For me they are like potato chips; can't just have one.

I hear ya Garry. They're so doggone inexpensive, you think "wow, it's only $15" and before you know it you have a half dozen and the bill is over $100.
