Great knife Justin!!!!!!
Love a pocket carry Hunter myself. Great old knife my friend.
Ken, Indian Trail bone? Never heard it called that. Always referred to it as Worm Groove. Not bagging on you my friend, just never heard that before. Do tell.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Sorry my friend, I was remiss. Not much into newer CASE but that is a good looking knife! I like the wharncliffe better than the long spey that went to in the late 70s'. But, I agree, pen is king.steve99f wrote:Thanks Ken. I really like the 07 pattern for its size, just fits well in the hand. The Case bone stag 6.5 handles are attractive. Would love to see this pattern revert back to a clip and a pen blade but I think that train left the station a while ago.

Thanks Jerry, it would have looked better had I wiped the oil off the blade before waxing it.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Jerry, I believe "Indian Trail" is a term originating with the Rogers Manufacturing Company, makers of Rogers Bone. It's found on some if the older knives made by Case, Cattaraugus, and Robeson, maybe others also. Case typically used it on hunting knives, mostly fixed blades but also some of the larger "folding hunter" patterns. I've seen it described as being like worm groove jigging but having longer grooves. That's probably subjective since I'm not sure what "longer" means.zp4ja wrote:Great knife Justin!!!!!!

Here is a link to a Bernard Levine article about Rogers bone - see the 6th paragraph from the top, where he mentions "Indian Trail" bone.http://www.knife-expert.com/bonehand.txt
And with that I believe I've just told you all I know on the topic!

It is a pleasure to follow this thread to see the great knives being found out there. This Case Tested XX 6294J green bone with long pulls on both blades recently landed on my pile. This is the large cigar pattern at 4 1/4 inches closed.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Many thanks for the gracious comments on my knife. It is in great condition, but it has been very lightly used. The clip blade is about 1/16" short and the blade edge on the spear has a couple of tiny nicks in it. Regardless, I'm very grateful to add it to my collection. This pattern is extremely difficult to find in good condition.
