This is a Schrade 510 T. A fine companion. EDIT: It's a 510 not 501.
Those scales are awesome! ::tu:: I have a 51 OT and it is one of my favorite lock backs from Schrade (My large Western like yours is still above the 51 on my top 10 list ). I just like the size and shape of the Schrade 51 ::nod:: It has nice smooth rounded lines whereas the other Schrade lock backs are more "buck 110-ish" ::hmm:: (I would pick up another one, but I just don't see ::paranoid:: them around for sale in person at any local venues; flea markets gun show etc...etc...)

This is a large 5" Remington.
The assist open is a real plus although I don't use it very well. But I can use it.
Recovered in paper Micarta by Muskrat Man.
This knife is very cool too Joe, and 5" you say... ::hmm:: !
Of course, Spyderco comes to mind when I see that type of assist opening on the blade, and I too had to practise some to get it right on how to use it. Lots of guys say they prefer the hole to a stud or flipper tab.
That black paper micarta looks good on any knife handle!

Thank you, GPSTOPDOG, the 51 is outside the box in design as is the Remington 17 shown later. The buck 110's are fine knives but there are other choices that can be considered with out all the blockiness and weight and that 51 is super. So glad I have one.

Thank you, Marco, the hole and Remingtons void and others is brilliant. I don't care for studs or flippers.
This Remington R-17 is such a cool knife. I almost didn't buy it because it had fake stag in Delrin and I do not warm up to that stuff.
Once I had it in hand I knew I was going to get it recovered. And Kaleb, also known as Muskrat Man did a great job as usual.
It's in dark brown Micarta. ::tu::

What did you dislike about it if you are listing it? Looks like a nice piece. ::shrug:: ::tu::
It wasn’t an easy decision, Iman. As I said, I really like the handle on this one, and, of course, the Weidmannsheil is a quality made knife, but I prefer larger knives - not a fan of “mini” or “small” versions - and, admittedly this is not Peanut size (3 1/8” closed) - but I needed to weed out a few knives, and this was one of the unfortunate few. Headed to a knife show soon, and I’d like to have the extra bucks in my pocket! ::nod::

Thats a real beauty! ::tu:: ::tu:: I stared carrying Spydercos in the 80's because they had a hole to assist in the one-handed opening ::hmm:: and I don't care too much for thumb studs. I am left-handed and the Spydercos were ambidextrous for me to use.

Right after I saw your 51 in the thread, I started looking for mine. ::paranoid:: I had forgotten where I had put it ::facepalm:: It turns out that it was laying on the floor of my spare bedroom... ::facepalm:: Months ago, I had put it in a towel with some other knives to clean and oil and I rolled them all up in the towel and never got around to cleaning them and it looks like my dog tugged on the towel and JUST the 51 fell out and landed on the floor (carpeted, luckily). ::skeptic:: kind of strange timing I would say... ::paranoid:: Well ::hmm:: now the 51 is back in action!!! ::nod::

Ivoryman, that Sakai is so sleek. Good looking knife.

Here's a little Spyderco liner lock.

Here are a couple of Parker's versions of a lock that baffles me, as far as the name goes, and the second is a toplock, I guess?? I have struggled with naming both of these locking devices. I am told that Parker called the second one a picklock and it is exactly like the Rigid that was shown earlier in the thread.

Thanks a lot Marco, appreciate the mention. Can't say enough good about it. Bank vault lock up, silky smooth action, thin in the pocket, beautiful bones, beautiful lines, lanyard hole, steel, Japanese quality. . . .

OKCA show find from the table of Charlie Compagna. Some decent antler and solid lock up. I've had several lock backs from GEC. They all wobbled a bit, some very little, some a lot. This one has none. Amazing really considering all the others I have or have had. 2013 Northfield 72 Scout LB.

I just came across your thread, Ray, and thought I might be able to help.
I believe you are correct in referring to the "Top-Lock" as a "Top-Lock" release system since that's what I've always heard then called by other folks and sellers, and the system with the opening in the front cover as an "Exposed linerlock" system.
I posted my copy of your "exposed linerlock" recently in "Mail Call", plus I have a Mikov all stainless and one other foreign build with that system. I've always thought it unusual and like it on all 3 of mine.
As for your "Top-Lock", all I can say is I've always found it unusual and attractive, but the closest I got to owning a copy is the one currently sitting in Customs, and the really dumb thing is, had a different Customs agent inspected the knife he might have O.K.'d it. it's the luck of the draw with those guys, some say it's a prohibited 1-hand opening knife, yet others will say it's just a different type of closing system. ::facepalm::
Two very cool knives you have, bud! ::tu::

I don't know why I called it a Viper. It's not. It's a 72 Scout LB. Sorry. I corrected my post Marco, I could not correct yours quoting it. To be clear. Thanks for the reminder that made me look. ::handshake::
