Speaking of bottom feeding, mailman dropped this off a bit ago the box weighed more than a lot of knives I own. I'm beginning to like this wharncliffe profile. ::nod::

I called and actually talked to the knife maker, James, himself. After an enjoyable discussion he asked
if I'd like to try making a knife? He sells kits, all a monkey like me has to do is follow the instructions!

Here's his website if you want to see his work: https://ihknives.com/

Here's what I received today!!!

I totally botched it......forget the completed project.

Scott - your pickup's are always amazing - maybe it's time for you to write a new book to teach us your secrets.

Right on Homer, the old Wharn grows on ya, that one is a sweet one. Is that stag or bone stag, excellent bone stag if that's what it is and good looking either way. RR did great on that one. And lanyard hole in the cap? I like that. Doesnt' weaken the cover material that way with another hole close to the edge. And the Wharns rock. Good score homer.

Doug I'm starting to think you've got some sort of abalone fetish. You sure do seem to come up with some beautiful abalone knives. This one is certainly no exception. Also, I've never seen that blade etch before. Can you shed any light on it ?

Beautiful knife BTW. ::tu::

Doug, Phil, first I've seen also but made in the U.S. I understand it was made by either GEC or possibly Queen. It came towards the end of the quality runs of Bull Dog, meaning the next move was to China. The single head on the blade is 6th and what I consider the final generation; so 2005 or later. Don't have a definite date on when China came into the game.

Doug, you might consider posting your knife in the Bull Dog thread with a few notes. By the way that is a stellar acquisition.
