I just landed this Craftsman Schrade.... It is the 125OT pattern with a set of modified 225H scales on it (I guess).....
According to what the sweep of the handle looks like across from the blade release tab, this is a 1968 - 1973 design which looks the same as the early 125OT.
.
Here is the Craftsman.....

.
And, for comparison, The early 125OT.....

It looks like a nice old folding hunter!
Fun!!

I know the barlow is probably the more coveted of the two - but that EO! That's the only one I'm looking at - very nice. ::tu::

Just got my first split back whittler. I’ve been trying to locate one for a while now. With a beefy main, a small spear and nail file, this Schrade Cut Co. L8423B 3-1/8” whittler is a perfect candidate for an EDC.

The typesetter 863 is the first of its kind I've seen. Very interesting. Nice find Roger. Of course the 891 is also quite a knife.

Did you mean one without the plus sign in the tang stamp?

Yes ! Knife shown is "Schrade+/USA 858".
However is the blade in a "Schrade/USA 858" really 1095 ? or did Schrade sneak in a stainless blade ?

Thanks Meridian Mike. I really like it. Great knife for barn work! ::tu::
Kootenay Joe I thought all Schrade + were stainless?
Either way stainless or carbon steel I purchased it to use. Since I retired and found this web site I have become a knife accumulator.
I think I need help to stop accumulating. ::dang:: ::dang:: ::dang::
Thank you all for the input. I learn more everyday on this site. ::tu::

Rod, Schrade used both 1095 steel (non stainless) and a stainless steel for their blades. The Old Timer line had the non stainless blades and the Uncle Henry line had stainless steel blades. Schrade used "Schrade" on tang to indicate non stainless steel, and "Schrade+" to indicate stainless steel.
The 858 can be found marked with either "Schrade" or "Schrade+", like yours. The "Schrade" ones are a bit harder to find.
However, sometimes Schrade lied, purposely and some of the blades that were marked "Schrade" are actually stainless steel. This happened only during certain years and for certain patterns. I do not know if the 858 is one of the patterns.

I don't know myself, but I have heard that the 51OT and 858OT all had stainless blades, regardless of the tang stamps.

I got this 858OT secondhand, but it has very nicely done scalloping on all three blades, and came super sharp as well.
It's a Schrade+ knife.

The 858 is a handful. In the early 80s a knife club ordered a small batch of 5 blade 858s that were put together by Herman Williams. A few years ago he made a few more minus the club blade etches. It's nearly half a pound of pocket knife.

We (meaning me) still don't know if an 858OT without a plus sign in the tang stamp is stainless or not. And the same question for the 51OT. Until someone has one without the plus sign and tests it for patina formation, we will not know. This question has been going on for several years and no one is answering it with a test. And, in fact, if a blade with no plus sign tests as stainless, we would not know if ANOTHER example with no plus sign is stainless or not. Such are the vagaries of Schrade-dom (Is that a word?). The 858OT is a pipsqueak compared to the jumbo stockman that Schrade collaborated on with IXL Wostenholm during their brief fiasco affair with the Brits. Those brutes were (are) a full 4 7/8 inches closed.
