TPK wrote: Sat Nov 07, 2020 3:34 pm I really enjoy many threads here on the AAPK. Sometimes I get a bit of a guilty conscience for enjoying a lot more than contributing but today I went for a 2+ hr. walk with my wife, my daughters & of course our dog Jake. Took a lot of pictures today to share with Y'all.

It was a beautiful late fall day with lots of sunshine. It's warm in the sun but pretty cool in the shade. I was surprised that I even found some patches of frost in the shade. ::uc:: The leaves don't get as pretty here as they do in the New England states, the north eastern states or Canada but we do have trees for counting election votes. Unfortunately, even they are undecided.

My oldest daughter Jazlin found a salamander on the road so I moved him to a sunny spot off to the side of the road. (These are dirt roads for farmers, foresters, hunters, loggers ect.)

There is a picture of a pond. I put some fish in it a couple of weeks ago but don't tell anybody. ::paranoid::

We saw about a trillion Magic Mushrooms. I know they are "Magic" because some of them will kill you & some won't. It's like Magic! ::nod::

Anyways, enough said. Here are some pictures, hope you enjoy & thanks for looking friends! ::handshake::

Well those were some great contributions for sure, thanks, good to see something I never see or visit. Educational and great photography, beautiful subject matter, everything. Sweeeeeeeeeeet shots all around.

Great shots and thanks for showing us around the area. Great to see stuff I never get to see.

Wow, Tom, thanks for the glimpse into your world. Really nice photos. You have a very nice looking family, including der hund.
Are you standing in front of a large beech tree? The bark on it, and some of the others, look like a Beech? The general appearance of some of the branches in the other pics say Oak to me.

::hmm:: Well yes, those are in fact Beech trees! ::nod:: Thanks for improving my english vocabulary. ::handshake:: I knew what they are called in German but I had to Google them to see what they are in english. ::doh:: In Germany they are called "Buche" & Oak is called "Eiche". I usually have mixed beech & oak fire wood for the winter time but this year I only have beech fire wood. :D

John, I consider your photo to be gnarly in its original meaning applying to trees and such. I especially like the way you captured so many diggerent textures. ::tu::

Awesome photo John. I especially like how the tones of the mushrooms and your mushroom clever accentuate each other.

Went up to Blue River for the first time since the Holiday Farm fire. Many of the landmarks I've grown up with are burnt down and it was a somewhat surreal drive.
