Still strolling my own yard looking for ways to highlight and capture the beauty of otherwise commonplace or mundane aspects; things that I see so often I tend to overlook them. Trying to look at them again with fresh eyes as if for the very first time. Here’s what my observations revealed to me this morning while I was carrying and coon-fingering my Case Dogleg Jack Glennbad mod:

I learn so much by looking at the photos of others. Ivoryman was a major inspiration, of course, but I really appreciate Squach picking up the slack after his passing and keeping this thread going with a steady stream of great pics of a wide variety of cool knives.

Thanks Q. I think Ivoryman prompted everyone who posted here to look at everyday things "with fresh eyes". I know he got me to rethink my photography and try to find the unusual side of usual things. My pics aren't as good as I would like but credit to Iman who gave me pointers and encouragement when I first started. I enjoyed checking this thread daily to see what he and others had posted so when the flow of photos slowed with his absence I kept posting hoping others would get interested.

It's been raining here for the past couple of days with a dry spot here and there so my walks with Sir William Barker McTerrier (AKA Silly Billy) have been limited and photo ops outdoors have been few. It's raining now and the forecast is rain all day with scattered thunder-boomers this afternoon. Looks like I'll have to try some indoor shots today, stay tuned.

My grandfather gave me this tine. He always told me an Indian chief had told him it was the best hone for a knife. I kind of doubt the uneven edges are well suited for that, but this tine is smooth like old pocket worn bone. He obviously used it a bunch. I like to carry it and feel the smooth edges and think of him. It goes well with my Iman classic and the early fall colors. Good day to be alive

I got out of my yard today, out and about running a few errands. Gave me a chance to photograph some knives that I actually use a lot like my personalized glove box Victorinox and my trusty Kershaw Chill that’s always with me but gets very little recognition. The double edged MTech dagger lives in the center console and is my anti car jacking insurance!

Q, I really like that Swiss one hander. Below is the one that nestles between the passenger seat and center console in my hooptie. It's not just a carjacking deterrent, I have a habit of taking off into the bush spontaneously so there is a small tackle bag, an ultra-light fishing rod & reel, a hatchet, an old army blanket, a rain poncho, my caving helmet, and a walking staff always in the cargo bay. My spontaneous turns onto new trails have become fewer as I've grown older but I'm still subject to get bit by that bug and I stay prepared.

Love those Queens GSP! You're right, the CS Bushaman is a low cost good quality work horse. Damn thig is practically indestructible. But I hate the plastic sheath and wish I could find one of the earlier canvas sheaths for it.

Sometimes a plain background is just perfect, T-Dog In your photos I like how it complements and brings out the textures of the knife handles My fingertips are practically tingling with tactile sensation.

Zach, your photos look like calendar shots...lots of nice rich colors with contrasting shapes and angles. Very pleasing to look at

Squach, you got some nice textures in yours too with the smooth, glossy handle contrasted against the dull, rough wood. I just want to reach out and coon-finger that knife! Nice job

There is just something about a Ken Onion knife that I love. What a great looking knife Q.

Charlie that is a beautiful knife on a great looking back ground.

Weirdknifeguy, those are some colorful backgrounds. Those purple berries look an awful lot like deadly night shade. I fight that stuff every year to keep it out of my yard and fence rows so that dogs don’t get into it.

GSP, those Queens are sweet looking too.

Well, you never would believe where those Queen stag knives come from. They're made by little guys in a hollow tree.

That's a beach towel with the names of all the islands, some floral patterns and some images of ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs on it. My favorite is the one depicting a surfer
