Bruno, you're gonna love it.

I know. I had one a few months ago but sold it. It had no snap and wasn't in the best condition. I'm really looking for an older one with bone handles but I can wait until the right one comes along. For now, I'll tote this one.

Yep, the Camillus BSA official Scout whittlers built on the 72 frame are designated 1047. Aside from the Scout shields and maybe some years with blade etches, I don't think there's any difference between the two.

As Tony said, the 1047 is the Scout version of the 72. Besides the shield, the only difference I've been able to find is there is no pattern number stamped on the back side of the main blade in a 1047.

I think Jerry has mentioned that they have some sort of tongue/groove system involving slots in the liners? There may also be glue involved.

A lot of later Camillus knives have this same kind of construction. I have a 72 with the same Delrin as your 1047 and the construction is the same. Yet my later 72, a smooth Yello-Jaket model, is pinned.

They closed the doors in 2007, but from what I gathered from folks who worked there at the end, the last knives went out in 2006.

No. In about 1976, Camillus stopped pinning the handles on and started using the molded post method for mounting handles. Look in the blade well. You will see circles at each end of the scales where a molded post on the handle is inserted. I assume they then heat it up so it swells and locks the handle on.

At one point a number of years ago I realized that I was simply "accumulating" knives as opposed to actually "collecting" knives (a very fine and much debated distinction). I thought that by refining, redefining and narrowing my collecting focus to specific criteria and parameters I could better manage my natural tendency to buy anything and everything that moved me and begin collecting knives instead of merely accumulating knives. Although to the untrained eye it may appear that my knife accumulation continues unabated, I actually do follow my own set of rules...for the most part...as flexibly and accommodatingly as justifiably possible within my established collecting parameters. (Pssst...The secret is to establish wide parameters!)

Each of these new pick-ups qualifies for collection status (in my own personal collection) by a minimum of at least two of my self-determined collecting requirements.

Good morning knife nuts. I hadn't been able to be forum active lately due to a new job I took a few months back, but hadn't stop collecting!! Home sick with the flu today and was watching a feebay auction end this morn, and thought wow, I could be posting some of my new acquisitions today!

A fixy I couldn't pass up. Feebay seller had a BIN price really cheap. Think they made a mistake. When there was a mix up in the shipment tracking, he was really adamant about giving a refund if it got returned to them. I should be ashamed for taking advantage of someone's mistake.... but I'm not.

You are surely correct Q. I would only add that one of the "restrictive parameters" that can constrain one's personal expression is money, or the lack thereof. But of course even with that your observation holds true.
