My first Lionsteel Roundhead, "modern" Barlow came and it just didn't look right in abalone. Traded two shells for a piece of tusk and abracadabra. Very decent knife. Love being able to switch out scales, think I'll make some amber stag scales too for special occasions or something.

Nice work, Ivoryman. Although I'm a big fan of abalone, I have to agree that your choice to replace it with tusk was a good call...and very well executed. Classy looking Barlow for sure.

I have been seeing Kizlyar knives on ebay for a year or two now. Searching "Hanwei" (Chinese manufacturer of top quality knives & swords) on ebay brings up knives listed as "Kizlyar-Hanwei" but the knives seem to be Kizlyar and i do not see what the Hanwei connection is.
So i bought the least expensive Kizlyar ($40) to see what they are like. This one is 4" "Kizlyar Sumpreme" Gent 440C P, polished bone handle.
It's a good knife and very good for $40. Not up to Hanwei level but i do like this knife and am pleased i bought it.

There are a few high end custom knife makers in Russia but Kizlyar is the only production knife company i know of.
Search Kizlyar on ebay to see a range of the knives they make, some quite expensive.

Good morning guys! I got home late last night and found a pretty decent mail basket for the week. I'll also post them in their respective threads.
