Heck of a gift, and a great friend you have there.
The only thing equal to that in value from my box are the bills I owe.

I had a few more come in today... an Imperial Barlow that will get new handles instead of that cheapo plastic, A pair of nice condition Case's, and a couple of Jim Parkers knives... An eagle eye, and a RMNW both made in Japan. Scary sharp blades.
Ohh forgot the little darling, Imperial twin.

Forgot one... The little red bone case w/ the double stamp pile side came in.
I love the color on this little knife.

The pile side is a beautiful flame pattern. I'm going to look for more of these handles.

The tangs says it is a 1980.
I've been looking for similar bone have haven't found anything from Case like this.

I have a friend with several knives with those handles. They started out red and the dye bled out onto anything it was touching. More red dye on the tissue paper than the handles.

That might explain why some of them have that flame pattern, and others are deep red. It could also have to do with the bone used. Some bone may be too dense to take the dye

Mine has shown no sign of bleeding, and I have carried it for a couple days now so I think it has to stop at some point in time.

That's a "smooth rose bone" (SR designation) Case from the early 80s. I believe some were made in the late late '70s, but all of my examples are 1980 or later. I have a couple peanuts, a small serpentine jack, a medium whittler, and one or two others. It seems like Case played with the dye absorption on these, a lot of the knives show that "half-set" red-to-natural transition on one or both handles. I don't expect you'll see any "movement" in that 35 year old dye job. There are variations in hardware, too. I have two ten-dot (1980) SR6220 peanuts in dead mint condition but one has brass pins and one nickel-steel. IIRC both knives have brass liners, however. I'm not sure if one is a mistake, a "variant", or just Case trying to get knives out the door by any means necessary.

I'm really digging that coke bottle, I might have to start hunting one down before they all disappear. They're not super-rare so they can be had for a good price if you can find 'em available.

I have my eye on a couple more but they are twice/three times what I paid for mine.
I actually like the smooth bone a lot and the color is spectacular. I have a long steep learning curve with the camera to do these knives justice.
Maybe by the time I get it cleaned up, I'll be able to get a better image. I think it is all in the lighting so I'll have to read more on it.

I agree w/ you 100% on the Coke Bottle pattern too. I'm trying to get them from any/all makers because they are just so unique. Especially the larger versions.
For whatever reason they tick a few boxes at once. Even more so w/ a nice shield!

JerryD kinda stuff here. I took a chance, a long shot. I knew this was a good knife but I just could not tell whether it was bone or Delrin from the seller's pics. When it arrived I still could not tell but finally I got it into brilliant sunlight and BINGO! -late 1950s Schrade Walden 863 double sabre grind WavyGravy RED bone, and absolutely flawless mint knife through and through. Sometimes it works.

Received that GEC #35 Churchill Green Banana Bone today. Very happy with it. It's the shield.

This inexpensive Italian knife surprised me. In addition to the olive wood handle, it has a firm half stop and cuts through tightly wound bubble wrap better than many knives.

That olive wood sure is pretty. I wish I didn't have to return the olive wood Beretta lock back I got, but I just couldn't abide the blade sitting up proud when closed.

QuickSteel, I thought your knife looked like it might be a friction folder, but if it has a firm half-stop, I guess it has a back spring. Nice looking knife. Can't quite make out the tang stamp.

Even with my magnifying glass I have trouble with that tang. Part of it is the company name: Fraraccio. but it looks like there is an M in front and instead of ending with the io it appears to be oo. Perhaps this is some sort of dating system such as Case uses.Don't know what the symbol above the name signifies; possibly a company logo.

The model name on the blade is Caccamo. Don't know what that scroll work in front of the model name means.

Thanks mate, left side is a colonial ranger scrimshaw stockman,right side is a made in China stockman,2 top ones are French pradel knives or similar,next one down is camco,then a Japanese Wayne,then bottom a camillus

The mailman made my day delivering two Ulsters. The first is a simple Jack knife, but has an embossed deer on the handle which I haven't previously encountered. The 2nd is a near mint stockman which really floats my boat. What appears to be scratches on two of the blades are actually finger prints which do not show in person. If you enlarge the photo you will better see the long pull. This one is going to get a lot of pocket time.
