Scott,
Looks like you got some good ones this time, great HOKs! A little TLC and they should make somebody's pocket happy.

This has been a busy weekend...
Just got the CRKT Ron Lakes PAL 7333 It is a knife that I have wanted but didn't want to spend the money for. I couldn't pass this one up. NMIB
I have already ordered the needed spring for the auto conversion.
Once I get the camera rolling I'll post up some of these finds being cleaned up, and repaired.

Two more knives I have to get tonight... crossed fingers. ::tu::

Last two for the weekend...
A couple of Parker (Japan) imports under different company names. An Eagle Eye, and a Smokey Mountain Knife Co.

Both Stag Trappers...

Joe that Holley is amazing! Just a marvelous form right down to those gorgeous handles!

Ken, that double stamp on your knife in post #437 was likely done when the tang stamp was struck. Normally those are done on a press, with a foot switch to control it. If you hesitate with the switch after the first stamp it'll come down again and do a double stamp. Of course the operator has already started moving the blade out so the second stamp comes out slightly askew. It happens so quickly that the press hasn't fully charged with air on the second strike, resulting in a shallow stamp the second time.

I was not sure of the process because it looks like two distinctly different processes, ie a stamp, and an etch.
More importantly... wouldn't that kick the blade out of QC to be a "second" or just not used?

Lots of guys say they have seconds where they can not find the flaw, and this flaw is pretty blatant.
You can't see it but I'm shaking my head because I don't get it...

Thanks for adding info Eric When it "clicks" for me I'll let you know ::nod::

I have little doubt that a minor misstamp like that could easily slip past Case's early '80s QA, considering the quantities produced and the wavering finances at the time...

Ok I get that...
I just looked up to see when Mr Jim Parker took over, and found that was in 1989
Then I realized that just in this one weekend, I purchased two of his knives made by different company names, and what is only my second Case knife. I only buy what I can afford that still catches my "eye".
Maybe it's a sign that I need more knives to balance the collection. (that's the story I'm sticking to...)

Thanks for the input guys. ::tu:: Every one of the knives I like has some sort of story to it.

Some "mistakes" you can live with and can even make the knife more collectible (to some collectors). But when a knife like this Beretta manages to get past Quality Control, that's just plain unacceptable. This one's getting returned. And before all you knife mechanics tell me what an easy "fix" this would be...I already know. But, I didn't buy the knife expecting to have to fix it, I wanted a knife that was like it was advertised to be. If the seller had mentioned this little issue, I never would have purchased it. That's one of the dangers of purchasing a knife based on a listing using a "stock photo" instead of showing the actual knife you will be getting.

I'm with you, ~Q~. If you (the seller) point out the defect and I buy it anyway, that's on me. Otherwise I expect you to make it good.

I had a table at a small show this past weekend. The show was poorly advertised and poorly attended but I did manage to land about a hundred knives out of an estate. Most are small with quite a few mini's and most are from China.
Here are some photos.

Ray, I love those knife lots...
If I spot just a couple keepers, and the price is right, I'm all over them. The rest go into a "Freebie Bin". ::tu::

Q, That's a shame... Total waste of time, and energy invested.
As a side note, taking that knife apart, grinding the blades tang or the back spring, and getting it back together is not all that easy a fix. I'd return it for sure.

JerryD, That stamp brings to mind the images of "You only had ONE job".

The mailman just dropped off these three items. The Ebony and Ivory lockback and the Camillus 72 that Randy built for me. I also received The Knife Album book that I bought from Dennis. All items exceed expectations. ::super_happy::

Ray, looks like there are a few winners in there! Guess you have to take the good with the bad. Well, as they say, there's an ass for every seat. Someone will be able to appreciate those junker also. Nice score!

LOL... I almost bought the Knife Album but I got distracted.
By the time I turned around you had bought it.

That's a good mail day Greg. ::tu::

I have a box in front of me that I haven't opened yet. It's too heavy to be the data cable I am waiting for so I am assuming it is the few knives I bought from Dennis (same Dennis).
I love the getting mail!!! ::ds::
