gino, he got to play too many games. you have him all tuckered out.

but like my aussie when he is napping, at the drop of a pin he bounces right up, barking all over creation and all too willing to tackle the world again.

Here is my newly adopted Norwegian Elkhound, Lucky. He's an SPCA alumni and has really settled in. Now my other Elkhound Jessie has a little brother.

Thank you Tom. It will be a week tomorrow. I was looking for a German Shepherd for a friend and stopped by the SPCA on my lunch break. No Shepherds but a nice Elkhound. It was love at first sight.

Boy I sure know how that goes, mine was a rescue. I knew the minute I put my hand in the cage and she wrapped her big jaws around it, she had to come home with me.

Got a surprise in the mail yesterday;my son was cleaning out the old house in Massachusetts prior to selling it and found a bunch of old pictures from happier(?) times.A lot of the family much younger and of course the inevitable pet pictures. So with your permission I will go down Memory Pet Lane for a bit.
First up is my ex with our puppy Junior circa 1971 or 72.He was Shepherd/Collie mix and one of the smartest dogs I've ever seen.
Next pic is Jeanne feeding him from a fork. The amazing thing was he would slide the food off without scraping his teeth on the fork.
Next one is him laying on the couch waiting to be fed.We used to feed him from paper plates as he would knock regular dog dishes over constantly and when he was hungry(and if we hadn't picked up the plate)he would go get it and prance around with it in his mouth. If that failed to work he would get on the couch and hold it in his paw until you fed him.
The next one is of our Doberman Kiddo dressed to go out in extremely cold weather.I still haven't figured out how my wife got her to hold still long enough to put the clothes on.We also had two cats at the time and she detested them but knew they weren't to be touched if they were in the house.Outside they were fair game. She tried that trick once and wound up getting her nose almost ripped off.Cats:1 Dogs:0.
The next picture is the Dynamic Duo themselves:Mr.Bill and Miss Pokey. They were both strays that wandered into our neighborhood and let themselves be adopted about a year apart. They never got along;only tolerated each other.I don't know how my wife got them to sit that close without fighting.
The last two are Mr.Bill contemplating an attack on the Doberman from the stairs and from the couch. The Doberman is an unwilling participant.
Sadly all of them have gone to their reward now but they were fun while they were here. Thanks to my son Justin for bringing back the memories.

While looking for something else today, I finally found the picture of our Bull Terrier from back in the late '70s. My (at the time) wife bought her for me as a surprise while I was out of town on business. I don't recall how long we had her but at some point decided we were just too busy with work and other activities to take proper care of her and sold her to a guy in Owensboro KY who wanted to breed her.

This is the dog that chewed the electric cord off the washer and the dryer, TWICE each while they were plugged in.

Hardscrabble My Happiness or as she was known around the house, either "Hey!", "No", "Bad Dog" or "Happy" depending on the situation.

This is from yesterday. We had a little visitor who really enjoyed my rescue pet. Her name is "Murphy" and is a Black Lab mix of something. She has the sweetest disposition of any dog I've ever had or even ever encountered. The little feller with her is our adopted great-grandson, Carson. The old fart that seems deep in thought is..........well............ME!! Funny, I was just looking for this thread this morning.

Here's my best buddy Hank
He's a rare breed known as a Jackadore Retreiver (jack russell/lab mix)
Best dang dog i've ever had. No trainig required since he was a pup. House training just came natural to him. Sit, stay etc. was a breeze. Stay off of the old couch in the basement was where he drew the line? Oh well, fair enough I guess. . If I had to choose between him and most anything it would be him hands down. Guess he knows that!

This is Gus our (almost) 8 year old Lhasa Apso.
We did not pose him this way, this is the way he usually sits on the sofa.
In order to get into this position he gets up on the arm of the sofa, and sets his butt back down onto the seat and turns around so he can see the TV and look out the front window.
